Chapter 13 A World Of Difference

Emery was in the backseat, and her lips curled up slightly, her smirk filled with mockery. Couldn’t wait to flaunt your love, could you? A pretentious b*tch and her simp!
Winona cast a sidelong glance, her eyes sharply darting toward Emery. Her gaze was filled with resentment. mph! Emery, I know you must have heard it! The person Howard is fond of is me!
The car swiftly pulled into the Langford residence. Winona glanced up and noticed the Cayenne parked outside on the mansion’s pedestrian walkway.
“Whose car has been parked there since yesterday?”
Unable to contain her curiosity, Winona voiced out her question, her brows knitted together in confusion, a look of puzzlement painted across her face.
Howard simply shook his head, indicating he didn’t know.
After the car came to a halt, Emery hopped out, arms laden with bags of spoils from her shopping haul.
Perhaps her movements were too hasty, and a sharp pang of pain shot through the injured part of her calf, to falter. She then began to limp.
Howard and Winona were closely following behind.
In the living room, Eleanor and Bradley were casually conversing on the couch.

Bradley stood up, his gaze landing on the numerous bags Emery was carrying in her hand. His face darkened instantly.
He strode forward angrily, scolding, “Emery, you really are something else! Having spent two years in prison, you still haven’t learned to be frugal!”
Emery closed her eyes, taking a deep breath and pausing for a few seconds.
Even though she had long given up on the idea of familial love, it was still a stab to the heart when she heard those ruthless words from her brother. That was the brother who had once adored her to no end, who would have given her the world if he could
The sweetness of past affection was as intense as the hurt inflicted by that day’s sarcasm.
He had even mentioned her time in prison so casually.
However, Emery no longer saw him as her brother since two year
years ago, perhaps even earlier.
“Howard bought all these. Is there a problem?”
Emery’s tone was icy. It was as
if it could freeze the surrounding air
With that, Emery didn’t even spare him another glance. She dragged her weary legs and struggled her way up the stairs
A wave of indescribable bitterness welled up in Howard’s heart as watched her retreating figure. No matter that, I’m still the one teko etors her!
Observing the look in Howard’s eyes, Winona felt a surge of jealousy washing over her like a tidal wave #hat’s there to miss about a cripple who has served time in prisont
“Howard, I wanted to buy a necklace today, but that didn’t happen.”
Winona’s voice was soft and sweet.

“Howard, come sit over here!” Eleanor called out warmly, her face full of smiles.
The housekeeper promptly brewed some coffee and brought over a fruit platter.
After all, she couldn’t afford to neglect the future son–in–law of her employer’s family.

Despite all the adoration I showered upon her in the past, Emery is increasingly disregarding me now. Still seething with residual anger, Bradley uttered angrily. “Mom, Emery is getting more and more outrageous. She just got back, and she’s already spending money like there’s no tomorrow. You can’t keep funding her. It’ll just encourage her excessive habits?”
Eleanor was slightly taken aback. She then promptly responded, “I didn’t give her any money!”
A look of surprise crossed Howard’s face when he heard those words. Could it really be that Emery hasn’t been given any money?
Leaning against Eleanor, Winona grumbled in a cute tone. “Mom, Emery told me her phone was broken today, so I bought her a new one which cost me over twenty thousand. After that, she said she was out of cash, so I gave her a card!”
“Winona, do you not see the attitude she has toward you? Why would you buy her a phone and give her your card? You’re too naive!”
Unable to hold back. Bradley made a sarcastic remark.
-Winona, you’re indeed kind–hearted, and you value family ties. Don’t worry. I’ll transfer a million to you. However, you’re not allowed to give her money next time! Once she has money, she becomes even more brazen Eleanor looked at her daughter with a face full of adoration.
Howard opened his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, it felt like the words were stuck in his throat. Perhaps the Langford family’s favoritism is simply due to the lack of a blood connection. It seems that there’s virtually no chance left for me and Emery!
Howard’s parents had always been assertive, and Howard was quite obedient to their words Starting from two years ago, he had already given up on his engagement with Emery
Although guilt lingered in his heart, he was ultimately helpless.
“Winona, your birthday is the day after tomorrow. How about I throw you a grand birthday party? Tell me what you like. No matter the cost, Ill make it happen for you!”
When Bradley mentioned Winona’s birthday, he was brimming with excitement.
“Winona, tell me what gift you like. I will buy it for y
you!”
1 Howard said. His face was full of tender smiles.
Winona was filled with joy. “Whatever you guys buy. I will love it!”
“Bradley, I’m entrusting you with the birthday party! Winona, would you like to handwrite the invitations?” Eleanor said with
a smile.
“Sure! I’ll arrange it right away!” Bradley declared before rising hastily and striding out of the mansion.
Winona rose to her feet and rummaged through the drawer to find a pen and invitation cards.
“Howard, come write with me! Help me check if anyone’s been left out!”
Once those words fell, the two began to ponder over the coffee table, carefully considering who they would invite
After returning to her room, Emery pulled out her shopping hauls one by one. She meticulously sorted them before hanging
them in her wardrobe
Once, her bedroom housed a spacious walk–in closet. In the past, all those high–end clothes, shoes, and bags were neatly arranged inside, and there was still plenty of room to spare

Even the curtains in the room tised to cost tens of thousands, but at that moment, curtains. Out of desperation, she had no choice but to bang an old bedsheet as a substitute
If one were to claim that it was the bedroom of the daughter of the Langford family, one of the four great families in Qubridge, no one would likely believe it.
Right then, Emery wasn’t bothered. After all, I’m no longer the daughter of the Langford family
She couldn’t wait to completely cut ties with those people, and she truly didn’t mit to see them ever again.
To claim there was no resentiment in her heart would be nothing more than a lie.
They were the ones who had raised her, allowing her to enjoy the high and mighty status of the daughter of the Langford family for hfteen years.
They were also the ones who had pushed her into the abyss, shattering her proud heart into pieces.
From this point forward, we owe each other nothing… Emery gathered her thoughts and turned on her computer.
Upon logging into the software, she discovered that her author’s dashboard was already overflowing
Countless requests for updates and messages were pouring in.
After calmning her emotions, she gently opened the comments section,
Master Lanery, you’ve finally updated! I’ve been waiting for you for two years!
What on earth happened to the author these past couple of years? Why haven’t there been any updates?
