When they rushed to Emery’s room, all they found was Emery collapsed on the floor, beneath her a startling pool of blood.
Zachary was holding a blood–stained knife in one hand, while his other hand was still covering Emery’s mouth. He looked utterly panicked
“Zachary? What are you doing!” Nicholas yelled out in anger.
“Emery!” Seamus called out anxiously.
“Call an ambulance, now! Wait, there’s no time to waste. I’ll get the car!” In a rush, Bradley turned and hurriedly ran downstairs.
The car arrived swiftly, and Seamus carried Emery down the stairs.
Throughout the journey, Nicholas‘ face was frighteningly grim. As he watched the unconscious Emery, his emotions were in turmoil.
Upon arriving at the hospital, the doctors swiftly ushered Emery into the operating room
Outside the operating room. Nicholas, Seamus, and the others were anxiously waiting.
Time passed by, each moment feeling like an excruciating torment.
Finally, the operating room door slowly opened, and a doctor emerged.
Immediately. Nicholas stepped forward, anxiously inquiring, “Doctor, how’s my sister doing?”
The doctor removed his mask and spoke with a grave expression. “The patient is no longer in critical condition, but she is still very weak. She needs to rest and recuperate properly.”
Half an hour later, Emery was moved into a standard patient room.
Her complexion was as
was as pale as paper, her eyebrows furrowed tightly, and her lips were devoid of any color.
Nicholas, Bradley, and Seamus, each with a different expression, gathered around the edge of the bed. Winona trailed behind them, her eyes flickering as if she were scheming something.
With an anxious expression, Seamus was the first to speak. His voice was slightly trembling due to his worry. “Emery, how are you really feeling? Is your wound hurting a lot? Please tell me what exactly happened!”
At that moment, Emery’s slender face seemed even more devoid of color, her eyes filled with both terror and anger
With all the strength she could muster, she pleaded, “Searuus, call the police for me! Zachary, under the influence of Niamh and Mila, tried to kill me!”
The desperately pleading look in her gaze tugged at Seamus heartstrings, filling him with a profound sense of heartache
us firmly held Emery’s hand, as if trying to transfer his strength to her, and asserted with unwavering conviction, “Emery, rest assured! I will never let them off the hook. I’ll definitely help you settle this score!”
Haying that he abruptly stood up and, without any hesitation, dialed the police

Nicholas rushed forward as well, quickly grabbing Bradley’s arm and trying to reason with Emery “Emery, there must be some misunderstanding here! How could Zachary possibly want to kill you? He’s a friend to both Bradley and me
Emery looked at these two so–called brothers of hers, her heart filled with disappointment and speechlessness.
She had never imagined that they could be so indifferent and confused when it came to a matter where her life hung in the
balance.
Using the last bit of her strength, she slowly opened her mouth and spat out a single word, “Leave!”
“Emery, I know you’re hurting, but Nicholas and Bradley also care about you! You can’t just go around breaking their hearts like this!”
Winona’s voice was soft, yet it struck as incredibly grating, as if it added another layer of chill to the already cold hospital,
TCHMITT.
Nicholas‘ face instantly turned incredibly awkward, as if someone had publicly ripped off his mask. Angrily and with a tint of embarrassment, he said, “Emery, how could you talk to us like that? We are your brothers! We are the ones who brought you to the hospital!”
Bradley was so furious that his whole body trembled. His facial muscles twitched, and with gritted teeth, he spat out. “Emery. you heartless creature, we should have let you bleed to death!”
Emery couldn’t be bothered to waste another word on these two imbeciles. She simply closed her eyes, choosing to ignore their senseless commotion.
Seeing that, the two of them reluctantly turned around and left the sickroom.
After Seamus finished his
his phone call, he returned to find that, besides Emery, there was no one else in the hospital room.
His face was filled with disbelief, his eyes wide open in shock. He said angrily. “They just left you here like this? Is this how the Langford family treats you?”
Emery mustered up a bitter smile, a smile that was filled with helplessness and sorrow.
She softly stated. “They’re not my family!”
Upon hearing this, a pang of pain surged through Seamus‘ heart. His cousin, who was once so innocent and lively, had been pampered like a little princess since childhood, growing up in the lap of luxury.
