Chapter 24 The Nightmare
The sound of Emery’s voice was as soft as a kitten, stirring an irresistible urge in anyone who heard it to protect her.
Upon hearing this, Joshua clenched his fists so tightly that the veins on his hands bulged. “I can’t believe the nerve of the Langford family! Emmie, don’t worry. Leave this to me. Not a single perpetrator will escape. They will pay the price for what they have done!”
With that, he took out his phone and made a call, his eyes revealing a sense of determination and ruthlessness,
As he spoke on the phone, he strode outward, each step radiating a powerful aura.
Joshua arrived at the end of the hospital corridor, where it was empty and quiet.
He lowered his voice on the phone, stating, “I’m going to make Zachary, Niamh, and Mila pay for their actions today. They must face severe punishment. No one is allowed to plead mercy on their behalf!”
From the other end of the phone, a respectful voice echoed, “Yes, Mr. Magellan, we’re on it!”
After ending the call, Joshua stared out the window into the night. Silently, he vowed to punish those who had hurt Emery.
He turned around and went back to the hospital room, only to find Emery already fast asleep from exhaustion. Her face still bore the traces of tears.
He gently approached the bedside, tucking her in with a blanket. His gaze was filled with tenderness and sympathy.
Deep in the night, Emery found herself trapped in an endless nightmare.
She found herself once again in that pitch–black prison cell, its walls radiating a damp and decaying stench.
The dim, yellow light struggled to seep through the narrow window, casting a patchwork of light and shadow on the ground.
A few sinister–looking women slowly closed in on Emery. Their eyes gleamed with malice, and twisted smirks hung on their lips.
Their laughter echoed through the eerily quiet prison cell, creating a chilling and terrifying atmosphere.
Following that, their fists and feet rained down on Emery in an endless barrag
Emery struggled desperately, but her resistance was futile. Her hands flailed helplessly in the air as she continuously cried. out, “No! No!!
Her voice was filled with fear and despair. It echoed continuously within the confines of the narrow prison cell. Yet is was seemingly swallowed by the darkness, with no response coming.
Outside the window, the night was deep and all–encompassing. There was nothing but deafening silence.
Joshua sprawled quietly at the edge of the bed, his face appearing weary and haggard under the moonlight.
He spent the night with Emery, unknowingly drifting off to sleep by the window.
Suddenly. Emery began to flail her limbs wildly. Her body twisted violently, her brows were furrowed deeply, and cold sweat poured like ram. Despite all this, she continued to cry out. “No!”
Joited awake. Jostas immediately gripped Emery’s hand tightly, lus eyes brimming with concern and sympathy He wonity reassured her, “Dont le atraut Dont be afraid I’m here”
As if he voice held a certain mags al charm, it gradually calmed Emery down, lulling her back in a deep slander
Joshua sat by turbed, observing Emery slightly pale fare A mix of notions washed over him

Finished
Joshua clenched his fists tightly, his knuckles turning white from the pressure. He made a silent vow in his heart. From now on I will never let you suffer even the slightest harm!
The faint glow of dawn seeped through the gaps in the curtains, gently illuminating the hospital room
Joshua woke up early and bought breakfast for Emery. He meticulously instructed the caregiver to attend to her every need before he left with his mind at ease.
Emery roused from her sleep. Her eyes still carried remnants of the fear from the nightmare the previous night.
The caregiver gently set a bowl of steaming oatmeal before her, speaking softly. “Ms. Langford, please eat something. It will. help you recover faster.”
Emery gave a slight nod, accepted the oatmeal, and began to eat slowly.
After finishing her meal, the nurse came in to administer her IV. The icy needle pierced her vein, yet Emery felt as if she had become numb to it, staring blankly at the ceiling.
Around nine o’clock, the hospital room door was gently pushed open. The last people Emery wanted to see appeared at the doorway–Gary. Eleanor. Winona, and Bradley.
The look in Emery’s eyes instantly turned icy, as if she had just spotted a group of intruders.
She simply didn’t have the energy to deal with their insincere flattery.
Choosing to turn her back on them, she curled herself up in the blanket. It was as if this simple act could shield her from all the chaos.
“Emery, where are your manners? Mom and Dad are here to see you. How can you not say a thing?”
A scowl spread across Bradley’s face as he berated Emery loudly, his voice echoing within the confines of the hospital room.
