“Bradley, Emery is injured. Of course she’s not in a good mood!”
Winona stood at the side, her eyes subtly gleaming with satisfaction. Yet, her words were insincerely sympathetic.
Emery scoffed to herself, amused by the pretentious b*tch’s acting skills.
She knew all too well that each time Winona seemed to be on her side, the latter was simply adding fuel to the fire, making the Langford family dislike her even more..
“Emery, even though you are injured, how can you not say anything to Mom and Dad. Do you have no conscience?”
Gary’s face turned ashen with rage, his hands trembling ceaselessly as he thundered.
“I told you that we shouldn’t have come! Look at her attitude, how is anyone supposed to care for her?”
Eleanor also voiced her dissatisfaction, her eyes brimming with disdain.
“What’s your problem, Emery? Why are you so insistent on calling the police on Zachary, Niamh, and Mila? All of them are business partners of Langford Group!”
Bradley’s voice was filled with anger. He was glaring fiercely at Emery, as if she had committed an unforgivable mistake.
“Yeah, Emery, since you’re alright, you should just drop the charges!”
As Eleanor spoke, she waved her hand to disperse the sharp smell of disinfectant that pervaded the ward, her impatience becoming increasingly evident on her face.
“Sis. I’m begging you, please drop the charges. Let Niamh and Mila go. They’re my best friends!”
As Winona spoke, her eyes turned a deep shade of red, as if she were on the brink of tears.
Unable to contain her fury any longer, Emery abruptly sat up, her gaze icy as she stared intently at Winona. “So, they’re your friends. Does that mean you orchestrated this attempt to hurt me?”
“Emery, I didn’t!”
Startled by Emery’s gaze, Winona quickly broke into tears.
Tears swirled around her eyes, but they just wouldn’t fall, making her act particularly obvious.
With a cold huff, Emery turned toward Eleanor. Her voice laced with sarcasm as she said, “And you, Mrs. Langford, you think. me being stabbed three times is no big deal? How about I stab you three times and see how you feel?”
Immediately after, she turned her gaze toward Bradley, speaking in anger. “Since when does the Langford family’s business depend on my life? If so, why not trade Winona’s life instead? And you, do you even care that I was hurt? I know what you really care about. Do I have to die to escape the torment from the Langford family?”
Emery’s emotions spiraled out of control as she unleashied an angry trade, and her body was trembling slightly in anger,
“Also, all of you should stop hiding behind the guise of family to boss me around. Have you shown any concern for me since 1 returned: Have I had a full meal even once in these past few days? The moment I pick up my plate, you start nitpicking at everything You dont give me a dime, and I can’t even have a proper nical. Every day, under the guise of fanuly you scold and insult me in the Langford residence. I am treated worse than a housekeeper Sometimes, even worse than the dog at the door So, don’t stan talking about gratitude again Yes, you might have taken care of me, but I spent two years in all for Winona I’ve paid my dars and I owe you nothing!”

As she spoke, Emery rolled up her sleeves, revealing an arm covered in scars.
The scars on her arm formed a chaotic web, a mix of old and new. Some wounds had healed, leaving behind grotesque marks, while others still bore the remnants of fading bruises, making for a terrifying sight.
Immediately after, she rolled up her pant leg, revealing another unsightly scar, accompanied by numerous smaller ones.
Upon seeing the scars on Emery’s body, Bradley couldn’t help but gasp. A look of shock and disbelief spread across his face.
He had never imagined that Emery bore so many wounds.
The words of reprimand that he had prepared were quickly swallowed back down.
Eleanor and Gary were both visibly shocked, standing frozen where they were. As they looked at the scars on Emery’s body, a wave of guilt surged within them inexplicably.
The girl who always loved to look pretty now has scars all over her body. Is this all due to our negligence and indifference?
Winona dared not even look. She turned her head away, calling out to Eleanor, “Mom…”
“Since it’s clear that we can’t stand each other, let’s just cut our familial ties! I can’t accept such a family. If you agree, prepare the agreement as soon as possible. Even if you disagree, my lawyer will be in touch with you!”
