Winona’s crying intensified. Choking back her sobs, she said, “Emery, you’ve got it all wrong. I genuinely don’t want you to fall out with our family!”

Without any hesitation, Emery ordered everyone to leave. She closed her eyes, refusing to spare them another glance.

Bradley stood up, recalling that scene which still unsettled him, one that weighed him down inexplicably.
“How could she be covered in injuries? Didn’t she receive care and attention while she was in prison?”
Nicholas wore an expression of disbelief, his brows knitted together tightly.
“Nicholas, you will understand once you see them. Those injuries are truly horrifying! Today, I finally got a glimpse of why she sees us as enemies ever since she returned. I’m afraid no one would ever want to marry her, given her condition.
As Bradley spoke, he couldn’t help but feel a wave of bitterness welling up in his heart.
