Chapter 30 Returning To The Langford Residence
“Emery, do you still keep in touch with Annie?” Natasha asked, wiping away her tears.
Emery awkwardly nodded, saying, “She just left not long ago.”
After a moment of silence, Natasha gently sighed and spoke. “Emery, I understand that you trust Annie deeply, and you don’t. want the past to affect your relationship. However, it’s really hard for me to forget those unpleasant things that happened
before.”
Emery clasped Natasha’s hand and said sincerely, “Natasha, let’s leave the past behind. I believe we’re all grown up now. We
can start afresh.
With a subtle nod, Natasha gazed at Emery, her eyes brimming with sincerity.
“Emery, I wish you happiness. If anything comes up in the future, make sure to let me know. My brother does have comme
influence in this area, so he might be able to help.”
With gratitude in her eyes, Emery gave a smile and said, “Thank you, Natasha. Having you by my side makes me feel so much better.”
After Natasha left, Emery found herself in a whirlwind of emotions.
Reflecting on their school days, she remembered that they were virtually inseparable. Unexpectedly, as time passed, they gradually drifted apart.
She never thought that Natasha, who used to fear the pain of injections when she was a child, would eventually become a doctor.
Moreover, she hadn’t expected the latter to be willing to acknowledge her as her best friend.
Emery felt a warm sensation in her heart.
In the days that followed, Emery continued to recuperate from her injuries in the hospital.
Natasha often found time to visit her, keeping her company and sharing amusing anecdotes from his work.
Emery also began to share aspects of her life with Natasha, and gradually, their relationship started to resemble what it had been in the past.
Three days later, Joshua had someone arrange her discharge from the hospital.
Natasha had packed her luggage for her, and Joshua had arranged for a car to pick her up from the hospital
A few bodyguards helped to load all the luggage into the car.
“Emery, make sure to stay in touch when you have the time,” Natasha reminded her
With a smile. Emery nodded and said. “I certainly will, Natasha”
The car slowly pulled away from the hospital Emery gazed out the window, a thousand thoughts swirling in her mand.
“Diver, please take me to the Langford residence first. I have to pick up some things there. Once we arrive, you dont need to
rail for me. I can drive myself back,” Emery instructed the driver

Emery gently shook her head, speaking in a nonchalant tone. “No need. There isn’t much to take I can handle it myself. Beudes. I can drive that car back!
As she spoke, she gestured toward the Porsche that was parked on the street.
The driver nodded. “Alright then! Be careful and call me if there’s anything”
After he finished speaking, he handed over a business card.
Emery took the business card, expressed her thanks, and limped her way inside.
Upon entering the living room, she saw Gary, Eleanor, and Winona gathered around the couch.
They were engrossed in a serious discussion about Emery, not expecting her to suddenly walk
Upon seeing Emery. Eleanor immediately sprung up from the couch, her fare flushing red as she bellowed out in anger. “You you’ve finally decided to return Now, our business with the Luther. Turner, and Manning families have been thrown into chans because of you! Are you satisfied now!”
Her booming voice echoed throughout the living room, carrying with it an accusatory and angry tone.
Emery merely lifted her gaze slightly, a cold glint sparkling in her eyes. She responded icily, “How is this my fault? If they’re out to get me, should I just sit back and let them?”
Upon seeing her, Gary furrowed his eyebrows deeply, his face a mask of helplessness and anxiety. He said, “Emery, because of you the Langford family has to pay a substantial amount in compensation Why can’t you consider the interests of the family before you act?”
“The interest of the family?”
Emery let our
a snigger, her voice dripping with sarcasm. “When I was falsely accused and thrown into prison, did any of you ever spare a thought for me?”
“Emery, do you realize that if you don’t withdraw the charges, they’ll be found guilty? By ruining them, you will have offended all their families”
Eleanor began to lament o
once again, dabbing at the corners of her eyes with a handkerchief.
However, Emery found her pretentious demeanor utterly nauseating.
“I’m surprised that you’re aware of the severity of their crimes. Are you afraid they’ll be found guilty? Why weren’t you afraid of me being found guilty back then
Without any hesitation, Emery retorted with her gaze filled with disdain and disappointment
The expression on Cary’s face grew increasingly grim He said solemnly. “Emery, you know the situation at Langford Group has been deteriorating over the past two years. The Luther family is demanding two hundred million in compensation plas the losses from various cancelled partnerships. This is just making the situation worse for Langford Group”
