Chapter 7 Fancy A Date
“Bring it on!” Instinctively, Emery tensed her body, immediately assuming a defensive stance. After the past couple of years, she had become quite accustomed to fighting. These privileged men standing before her were nothing more than small fry in her eyes, hardly worth her time to fight. Suddenly, two of the men rushed over aggressively. Just as Emery was about to strike back, a shadow rushed past her like a swift wind. The two individuals were sent flying like kites with cut strings, landing heavily on the ground. “Ahhhh!” The eerie silence of the surroundings was shattered by the pained wails that echoed through the air. Emery felt somewhat dazed as she shook her head. Could it really be that a savior had arrived? However, she immediately dismissed this thought with a bitter smile, doubting that she could ever be that lucky. She was half-leaning against the wall, her gaze fixed on the enigmatic shadow. It was a man in a tailored black suit, every line of it exuding sophistication. He was tall and lean. Even from behind, his perfectly proportioned physique was breathtaking. With broad shoulders, a narrow waist, and long legs, he resembled a model who had stepped right off the cover of a fashion magazine. He positioned himself protectively in front of Emery, confronting the audacious men before him. Without a shred of hesitation, his fists rained down like a thunderstorm, each punch delivered with formidable strength. It wasn’t long before the scions were beaten into submission, pleading for mercy on their knees. “Spare us, Mr. Magellan! Please spare us. We promise not to repeat our mistakes…” Their voices were laden with fear as they pleaded for mercy, their words trembling. “Get lost! If I catch you bullying her again, I swear I’ll make you pay!” The man’s voice was deep and icy, as though it echoed from the darkest depths of hell, carrying a chilling authority that made one’s blood run cold. Those guys fled the scene in a hurry, practically falling over themselves to get away. The man finally turned around slowly. The look in his eyes softened instantly as he gazed at Emery, becoming as gentle as a calm stream. The depths of his eyes were so that one could almost drown in them. “You… are you okay?” he asked softly, his voice like the warm sun on a winter’s day, chasing away a hint of chill in Emery’s heart. Emery slowly lifted her head, and what met her gaze was a face that could only be described as perfect. His face was strikingly handsome, chiseled as if by a master craftsman. His deep-set eyes were reminiscent of a vast starry sky, mysterious and captivating, carrying a hint of an enchanting allure. Emery couldn’t help but stare, secretly marveling in her heart, This man is so handsome! Moreover, there was a sense of familiarity, as if they had met before. The man was gazing into her eyes, his irises gradually deepening, akin to a fathomless pool. “Have you had enough of looking?” The corners of his mouth lifted subtly, sketching out a hint of a smile that was barely there, tinged with a touch of teasing. “Heh, no… I’m… I’m fine. Just a bunch of scions, that’s all!” Emery responded somewhat sheepishly. Due to her tipsiness, her voice was laced with a touch of languor. “He’s so handsome, yet he doesn’t let people stare at him. How petty…” Under the influence of alcohol, Emery was quietly mumbling to herself. The man took a step forward, instantly closing the distance between them. He lifted his muscular arms, bracing them against the wall and trapping Emery in a small space, creating an atmosphere of ambiguity. “Are you able to get a good look now? Am I handsome?” He subtly lowered his head, leaning in toward Emery. The warmth of his breath gently grazed her cheek, causing her heart to involuntarily quicken its pace. With a laugh that made her eyes squint into a thin line, Emery nodded incessantly. “You’re really attractive! Hey handsome, up for some fun?” As she spoke, she stretched out her slender, elegant fingers. With a hint of playful audacity, she gently hooked the man’s chin. Her eyes were hazy from her tipsiness. The man’s lips curved into a captivating smile, as radiant as the brightest crescent moon in the night sky. “Sure!” The word, as it left his lips, seemed to carry a certain magic, causing Emery’s heart to skip a beat in her chest. This guy was quite the flirt! After he finished speaking, he effortlessly lifted Emery with one arm and started to walk out. The height difference between the two, one at one hundred and eighty-three centimeters and the other at one hundred and sixty-three centimeters, immediately revealed its advantage. The man held her as effortlessly as if he were cradling a kitten. Emery was far from docile in the man’s arm. Her small hand roamed across his chest, as if she were exploring a mysterious treasure. She couldn’t stop mumbling to herself, “This man looks so familiar! Who are you, exactly…” Her gaze was hazy, filled with the innocent confusion that came with intoxication. Joshua Magellan gently seized her wandering hand, his voice filled with both tenderness and a hint of exasperation. “Stop moving!” “The clothes I bought…” It was as if Emery suddenly remembered something, her voice laced with a hint of urgency. She certainly didn’t want to leave her shopping haul behind at the nightclub. Walking behind Joshua was his assistant, Yannick Sablan. Understanding the unspoken wishes of his boss after a glance from Joshua, Yannick took action. He quickly dashed back to the private room, grabbed the items that Emery had purchased, and then promptly fell into step behind Joshua again. Once outside, Yannick hastily opened the car door. Joshua moved to sit in the backseat, still cradling Emery in his arms. The interior of the car seemed to be instantly filled with an intriguing atmosphere. “To Crescent Bay!” Joshua’s deep and magnetic voice filled the car, carrying an undeniable authority. Yannick glanced at the rearview mirror, only to see his boss, the CEO, completely engrossed in the woman he held in his arms. His gaze was filled with complex emotions, as if she was the only person left in his world. Yannick subtly shifted his gaze away, pressing his foot down on the accelerator. The car sped off, leaving a trail of exhaust in the night. Looks like Mr. Magellan has finally seen the light! Yannick marveled in his heart. He had been working for Joshua for eight years, and throughout these years, he had never seen Joshua treat any woman in such a manner. Countless women had thrown themselves at the CEO, with no shortage of those resorting to various tactics. Some even stooped so low as to drug him. However, without exception, their endings were all tragically the same. Once, there was a popular actress who tried to get close to Joshua through unscrupulous means. However, her plan backfired when Joshua ordered her to be blacklisted. From then on, she disappeared from the entertainment industry. From that point onward, even though many women harbored feelings of admiration for Joshua, they no longer dared to approach him casually. They could only observe him from a distance. Even though Joshua had been away from Qutbridge for over four years, his reputation still echoed powerfully throughout the place. Whether he was making waves in the business world or in other fields, whenever people mentioned him, they would respectfully address him as “Mr. Magellan.” By now, his multinational corporation was thriving, and his net worth had skyrocketed, making him a legendary figure in the business world. In less than half an hour, the black SUV arrived at Crescent Bay. The car drove straight into the courtyard, the faint sound of the tires rubbing against the ground particularly distinct in the quiet of the night. Emery had long since fallen asleep in Joshua’s arms. A faint blush graced her face, and her long eyelashes cast a soft shadow beneath her eyelids, making her look like a princess lost in a sweet dream.
