“Irene, I know you’re still furious with me,” he said, his voice chillingly calm.
“But sooner or later, you’ll calm down. And then, you’ll see who you really love.”
I couldn’t fathom where Mathias got his confidence from.
Even now, he still thought this was just a childish tantrum.
But there was nothing more I could do.
I could only watch as the car pulled away from the estate, each inch taking me further from the life I knew.
After a while, Mathias glanced out the window, his brow furrowing in frustration.
He knocked sharply on the driver’s part
rtition.
“Stop the car!” he barked. “This isn’t the route I booked!”
My chest tightened, a cold wave washing over me. I gripped the ring on my finger, shrinking into the corner as if
it could shield me from the uncertainty that suddenly gripped my heart.
After what felt like an eternity, a muffled voice came from the front, slicing through the tension like a knife.
“How could this not be the route?”
“This is the road to the underworld!”
The car hurtled forward, showing no signs of slowing.
It took a moment for the voice to register, but when it did. I realized with shock that it was Nathalia.
Mathias must have recognized her before I did, for he began banging on the partition with increasing desperation.
The car swerved wildly as the partition rattled, its impact throwing the vehicle off course.
Meanwhile, Nathalia screamed in fury, her voice a jagged cry of madness.
“Mathias, it’s because you wouldn’t let me go,” she howled.
“You sent me to prison! I don’t want to rot away in that dark place again!”
“Die! Die!”
As the car picked up speed, Nathalia’s hysteria seemed to fuel Mathias’s panic. Yet, he still tried to maintain control, his words thinly veiling his fear
“Do you think that if you kill me, you won’t go to prison?!”
“If you stop this car right now, I’ll drop all the charges. You won’t have to suffer.”
Nathalia’s laugh echoed through the car, wild and broken.
“Do you think I’ll fall for your lies again?” she hissed.
“I have nothing left, nothing to lose. All I want is to see you dead!”
The car bounced violently over the uneven road, the sound of chaos filling the air as I clung to whatever hop
was left.
The sudden jolt of the car sent me flying, my body crashing into the window.
My forehead slammed against the glass, a sharp sting of pain shooting through me, followed by the warm trickle of blood marking the window
Mathias finally lost his composure, his anger boiling over as he struggled to keep control. With a strained voice, he negotiated with Nathalia
“It was me who filed the lawsuit. If you want me dead, fine. But Irene is innocent. Don’t drag her into this.”
“Let her go, and I’ll let you do whatever you want with me.”
“Innocent?” Nathalia’s voice was venomous as her hand slammed down on the steering wheel, making the car horn blare out in protest
“If it weren’t for her, none of this would be happening!”

“I’d rather her die than you!”
The impact had left my head spinning, my vision blurred. Nathalia’s harsh words and Mathias’s frantic pounding on the partition echoed in my ears, adding to the dizzying sensation.
I forced my eyes to focus, and through the haze, I saw where Nathalia was taking us: a rugged mountain road winding toward a steep drop
Ahead of us loomed the edge of a cliff, its sheer drop stretching hundreds of meters below.
If the car plunged off the edge, there would be no chance of survival, none.
My mind couldn’t quite grasp it. Today, of all days, was supposed to be my wedding with Norman. Instead, it had spiraled into this nightmare.
Just when the weight of it all felt unbearable, a flash of hope sparked. Through the rear window, I saw a car, his
It was Norman!
My heart skipped a beat, a rush of adrenaline flooding my veins.
Norman had to have seen the signal I’d sent with my ring.
He was coming to rescue me.
