Chapter 57
Unfortunately, Clive’s eyes filtered out the blatant disdain in Regina’s gaze. He only saw her smiling at him.
He tightened his grip on Victor’s neck even more, like a leopard flaunting his strength. “Regina, did you see that?”
Regina propped her chin on one hand and smiled lazily. “See what?”
“My strength!” His fair, slender fingers tightened the red whip around the man’s neck, “I’m not some pushover you can just walk over. I’m more than good enough to be your brother!”
Regina didn’t respond, shifting her gaze to the person rushing towards Clive from behind.
This woman had wings on her back and flew from somewhere, preparing to deliver a flying kick to Clive.
Clive, oblivious, still had the man in a chokehold. “Regina, just call me ‘brother, and I’ll-”
Clive was sent sprawling by a swift kick from the winged woman.
Landing hard, he stared up at her in disbelief.
Thank God, Veronica,” Victor exhaled, “you made it just in time!”
Veronica brandished a thermal blade, her face contorted with rage. “You messed with my brother, you bastard!”
Victor, now free, joined his sister in their assault on Clive.
The siblings fought with a practiced synergy, quickly gaining the upper hand.
Clive, outmatched, was kicked back, landing at Regina’s feet and coughing up blood.
She hopped aside quick–those new shoes weren’t getting messed up.
Unaware of her disgust, Clive looked up at her, pain etched on his face. “Run…”
He choked out, struggling to his feet and weakly pushing at her leg. “I’ll hold them off. Get out of here!”
Regina, unimpressed, glanced at the thirty–story drop.
Where exactly am I supposed to go?‘ she wondered.
Veronica stepped on Clive’s back. “You two look alike. Is she your little sis?”
Clive clenched his jaw, not saying a thing.
Veronica cocked her head, sizing him up. “We’re siblings too, but we’re not weak little rich kids like you guys.”
A smug grin spread across her face. “I’ll kill you first, then I’ll deliver your useless sister to the client who ordered her.” Clive’s breath hitched. ‘Someone wants Regina? Who else is after her?‘
A surge of adrenaline coursed through Clive. He roared, shoving the woman off and scooping Regina into his arms. Regina was taken aback. Where did he get that strength?‘
Ignoring her surprise, Clive jumped off the edge of the roof, Regina clutched in his arms. “Over my dead body!”
The siblings‘ faces paled, but they followed without hesitation.
Pain ripped through Clive, but he gritted his teeth and made a running leap towards the next building, Regina in tow.
Regina was stunned. “You can still run? I thought I’d get to see you die. You’re tougher than you look.”
Clive, vision blurring with pain, snapped, “You’re such a jerk! I’m saving your life, and and you’re rooting for me to croak?”
He swallowed the metallic taste of blood, his arms trembling as he held her tighter. “What’d I ever do to make you hate me this much?”
Clive’s steps faltered. He looked at her hesitantly. “If I die for you, will you forgive Mom?”

Regina stared blankly, confused “What?”
Clive’s face was ashen, but his voice was firm. They’re gonna catch us. I’m toast. But if I go down saving you, will you let Mom off the hook?”
Regina narrowed her eyes, still unable to grasp his meaning. Why is he so determined to die? With me here, he’s got nothing to worry about.
Veronica swooped down, her blade aimed at Clive’s back. “Any last words?”
Clive felt the killing intent behind him.
A flash of crimson light filled his vision.
Veronica froze mid–air, eyes wide with disbelief as Regina’s thermal sword protruded from her chest.
Regina stood there, blade in hand, staring at her with zero emotion.
Then a sugary smile spread across her face, dimples popping out.
“How about you? Any last words?” she smirked like a naughty girl.
