I looked at the divorce agreement in my hand, and my heart remained calm.
Since Dora died, it seemed nothing could stir my emotions anymore.
That was, until one day.

As soon as I opened it, she angrily yelled, “Linsey Wood, are you done yet? It’s just your daughter who died. Why
are you being so unreasonable? Do you want to drive Spencer to death?”
“Just my daughter who died?”
I frowned and stared at Gloria in disbelief, shouting, “Gloria, if you have any humanity, you wouldn’t say such a
thing!”
Dora’s death was a pain I would never overcome, but to Gloria, it seemed to be a trivial matter.
Gloria remained arrogant. “So what if she died? Who are you writing those things online for? Spencer has been
staying indoors all day. When I went to see him, he ignored me. You’re doing this to spite me, aren’t you?”
She came to confront me only because Spencer ignored her.
“I’m not interested in what’s going on between you and Spencer. If you’re angry, take it up with him.”
I moved to close the door.
But Gloria held it open and quickly stepped inside. With a twisted smile, she said, “Linsey, it seems I really underestimated you. Spencer loved me so much. When I went abroad, he was desperate. I thought he’d divorce you
and be with me once I returned. I didn’t expect you to attract him. No matter what I said, he couldn’t give you and
your daughter up.”
“Why are you telling me this?”
I asked coldly, uninterested in her drama with Spencer.
“I’ll tell you a secret.”
Gloria leaned close to my ear, her smile even more twisted. “Before, when Spencer refused to divorce, I thought it
was because of your daughter.”
“So… I had someone hit your daughter with a truck.”
Her words hit me like a hammer, shattering my world.
