Chapter 10
The scandal had exploded, and before long, everyone knew about it. At first, Sean wouldn’t budge–he was still holding on to whatever control he could, refusing to hand over the company to me.
But then, one by one, his longtime clients. started dropping him like a hot potato. They canceled contracts, pulled out of collaborations, and backed away from dealings with him.
“We don‘ t do business with people with a messy personal life,” one client said bluntly.
“Exactly. If you can’t even manage your wife, how can we trust you to run a business?” another added. “If you‘ re out here messing around, that’s a sign your company’s heading downhill. It‘ s doomed.”
It’s

“You better find some new partners because honestly? I don’t see you holding on to that CEO title much longer.”
Everywhere Sean looked, there was mockery, ridicule, and shame. He was sinking fast, and there was no way out.
Soon enough, the company started crumbling under the pressure, taking a massive financial hit.
When Sean ended up in the hospital–sick, broken, and practically begging for mercy -he finally gave in.
“Michelle, I’ll give you the company,” he whispered, his voice barely above a breath. “But you have to agree to one condition.”
I didn’t answer right away. I just stared at my nails, freshly manicured, and let a slow smirk curl up at the corners of my mouth.
“What makes you think you can make demands now?” I asked, my tone as cool as
ice.

He went quiet, his reality sinking in. He had nothing left–well, nothing except the baby Veronica was carrying. That was it.
“Michelle, you don‘ t have to push me this. far,” he murmured. “We used to be happy. Even if we’re going our separate ways, at least leave me some dignity.”
I almost laughed. “Dignity?” I repeated, raising an eyebrow. “What dignity do you. have left?”
He hesitated. “It’s not about me. It’s Veronica… she’s a few months along now. We‘ re at that point where we need money. So, I just need a little help.”
I rolled my eyes. I was so done with him.
“What does that have to do with me?” I snapped. “That kid isn‘ t even mine. Besides…” I instinctively touched my stomach. “I’ve got my own child on the way.”
His voice softened, a twinge of desperation in his words. “Michelle, please don’t be

like this. I thought you couldn’t have kids because of your heart condition. That‘ st why I had Veronica carry it. We were going to adopt it together. Please, don‘ t be so heartless.”
His words hit me harder than I wanted to admit. But then, something inside me snapped. I couldn’t hold it in anymore.
A touch of sarcasm flickered in the corner of my eyes as I heard those words, and my smile widened. In all the years we were married, we never had children. I always thought it was because of my health issues. But the truth was, it was because Sean had been in a car accident years ago, injuring his reproductive organs and leaving him infertile.
I asked, “Sean, do you really think that child is yours?”
“What do you mean?” Sean stared at me, stunned.
I pulled a few photos from my bag and

tossed them onto the bed before him. No words. Just the photos.
“These are from just a few days ago,” I said, my voice dripping with contempt.
“What do you think of your little secretary now? Turns out, she’s not just with you. She’s been seeing other men behind your back.”
Sean stared at the photos in disbelief, hist face going pale. But I wasn‘ t done.
“She’s just another woman after your money. You should‘ ve known, especially given the timing of the pregnancy.”
I leaned in closer, locking eyes with him. “Do you still think that kid‘ s yours?”
It took him a long moment to process it, and when he finally spoke, it was with a cold, bitter laugh.
“You think I’m going to believe your nonsense?” Sean sneered. “Michelle, you‘ re just jealous of Veronica. You‘ re competing with her out of spite.”

I couldn’t listen to him anymore. His denial was just too much.
A few days later, I heard Sean had hired a private investigator to look into
Veronica‘ s background.
Turns out, everything I’d said was true.
At first, he couldn’t believe it. In a fit of rage, he confronted Veronica in his office.
“Tell me the truth,” Sean demanded. “Is
that child mine?”
Veronica had been playing the part for so long, but with everything crumbling around her, she didn’t have the energy to pretend anymore.
She crossed her arms, looking him dead in the eye.
“You?” she said bluntly. “You lost your fertility years ago. What are you still pretending for?”

Sean’s face fell, shock written all over him as she continued.
“Let me make it clear, Sean. That child is from another man. I lied to you. And you- you actually believed it. Men like you- stupid, arrogant, and selfish–should be forgotten.‘
!!
I heard that Sean lost it completely.
He tried to grab her, shouting that he was going to teach her a lesson–maybe even drag her to the hospital for an abortion. But he forgot one thing: he no longer had the power to act like that.
The days when his bodyguards would shield him were long gone. He was powerless now.
In the end, it was me who brought Veronica back into the company.
After all, she’d helped me get the divorce, and now she was returning the favor.
Despite everything that had happened,

Veronica had ambition and was grateful.
She promised to work hard and repay me in the future.
As for Sean?
He’d lost everything.
His company, money, influence–all of it was gone. He was left with nothing but a pathetic, empty existence.
To make matters worse, Sean’s mother fell ill from the shock. Without an heir, the family legacy died along with him.
It felt strangely satisfying like a weight being lifted off my shoulders.
As for me? I had moved on. I’d already married Grayson. He treated me like I was the most precious thing in the world.
We had a beautiful wedding, and not long after, I gave birth to a healthy baby.
Our new life together was just beginning, and everything felt right for the first time in a long while.
