Julian was stunned by my words. He stared at me and said in disbelief, “What are you talking about? I’m a doctor. How could I not know about this? Didn’t you say everything looked fine at your checkups?” Tears blurred my vision. “Yes! Everything was fine. But you forgot that when I was bleeding out and desperately needed blood, you gave the last bag to Tiffany. If it weren’t for that, our baby wouldn’t have suffocated to death!” Julian froze in place. “Everything you said was true?” I couldn’t stay another second in this suffocating house. I grabbed my things and left. This time, no one stopped me. Behind me, voices rose into a heated argument, only to be cut off as the door slammed shut. Word had gotten around about our divorce. My friends showed up at the courthouse in their luxury cars, lining the entrance in a glittering display. Julian arrived shortly after, hand-in-hand with Tiffany. They were clearly back to playing the loving couple. He glanced at the crowd, his expression shifting into suspicion. “Where did you get the money to hire all these extras? Chloe, are you causing a scene because you’re seeing someone else?” I almost laughed out loud. “Is someone babbling nonsense?” I rolled my eyes and snapped my fingers toward one of the bodyguards. At once, a large screen flickered to life right outside the entrance. It started to play a loop of Julian’s affair. The moans and whispers in the video were enough to make anyone blush. Julian, who had always cared about appearances, panicked. He yanked his jacket over his head and bolted, shielding Tiffany’s stomach as they fled.
