I waited patiently for the one-month divorce cooling-off period to pass. As soon as it was over, I finalized the paperwork with Julian. On the day we walked out of the courthouse, Julian looked at me. After a brief hesitation, he said, “When Tiffany gives birth, she’s going to need your help.” I was stunned by his shamelessness more than anything else. For a second, I was so caught off guard I forgot how to respond. I got straight into my car and left. Subsequently, I sent Julian a few pictures of Tiffany getting cozy with another man. As expected, all hell broke loose at the hospital. I also ensured those photos made their way to Tiffany’s ex-boyfriend and the other sugar daddies she’d been stringing along. “I heard that a couple of those guys stormed into Tiffany’s hospital room and caught her in bed with Julian. Their clothes were still on, but barely. They went ballistic and started hurling their bags at the two of them. “Julian tried to shield Tiffany at first, all concerned and protective. However, after he saw the photos, he snapped and lunged at her himself. What a bastard, honestly.” I glanced at my friend and said, “That doesn’t sound like hearsay. More like you were hiding under the bed and saw it all go down.” She gave an awkward laugh and continued, “I still don’t get what you saw in that guy. Seriously, were you blind? Or was this a case of beauty in the eye of the beholder?” I glanced down and gave a bitter laugh. It was almost time for the next phase of my plan. After venting, she looked at me seriously. “Chloe, are you really going to take over your family’s business?” I nodded. “I’m a member of the Wilkins family. It’s my responsibility to protect what we’ve built. I won’t let it fall into the hands of some greedy outsiders.” She gave me an approving pat on the shoulder. “Now that sounds like the real you.” Ever since that scene at the hospital, Julian and Tiffany’s reputations had gone up in smoke. Everyone knew that Julian divorced Chloe and fooled around in a hospital bed with his mistress, Tiffany. In addition, they were caught in the act by her other sugar daddies. Julian was officially fired from the hospital.
