She Got His Time, I Lost My Child 5

Chapter 5

From then on, Julian became even colder toward me. Once, in the middle of making love, his phone rang—it was Tiffany. Tiffany said she was drunk and needed him to take her home. Julian immediately got off me. I reached out to stop him, but he shook me off. He glared at me and hissed, “Tiffany doesn’t know anyone here. Are you going to take responsibility if something happens to her? Chloe, stop being so childish.” Everyone also said, “Tiffany has such terrible luck. If only she had accepted Julian’s confession back then, she’d be married to the hospital’s top obstetrics and gynecology doctor by now. No one would stand a chance against her.” None of Julian’s relatives or friends liked me. They all believed I came from a humble background and was never worthy of him. Even Julian seemed to think so. Ever since Tiffany returned from abroad, he had been giving me the silent treatment, claiming he was swamped with work. He only came home once a week and even refused to accompany me to my prenatal checkups. However, he appeared frequently in Tiffany’s social media posts and was constantly praised as a “good man”. When people misunderstood the nature of their relationship, Tiffany would just smile. She didn’t explain or deny it. She simply accepted it all as if it was only natural. Julian was no different. He seemed to enjoy it when people mistook Tiffany for his radiant, elegant wife. We had fought about it more times than I could count. He always said they were just good friends and that friends should help each other. According to him, I was the one who saw everything in a negative light, the one who didn’t respect his right to have friends. Julian had been chasing after Tiffany for years. Whenever she gave him the slightest hint of affection, he acted like a starving dog tossed a bone. However, when it came to me, he always believed I wasn’t good enough for him. Before I was pregnant, I couldn’t bring myself to leave him. And with a baby on the way, I heavily relied on him, so he became even more reckless and shameless. I used to believe he’d finally see me one day—the woman who had always stood quietly behind him. Now, I was just too tired. I didn’t want to love him anymore.
