I looked at him. So, you’ve come to take my blood to break the poison, haven’t you?”

At my words, Vince froze, clearly not expecting me to speak like that. His voice turned cold

You think I wouldn’t dare? You caused Gwen to suffer and poison herself. You owe her a debt that needs to be repaid.”

He grabbed my arm and dragged me to Guinevere’s residence

Guinevere lay on the bed, barely alive. The doctor drew a knife and made a small incision on my arm. A sharp pain shot through me, and I let out a muffled grunt

The doctor looked pleased. The poison has responded. The young lady’s blood is indeed a match. But to save her, we need the blood from her heart, the doctor said, looking uncertain. I wonder if the young lady can endure the strain?”

NoVince’s face changed, his brows furrowed in concern. Taking heart blood is like losing half of one’s life. She won’t survive. Can’t we use another one’s?”

The doctor hesitated. Other blood wouldn’t work as effectively. If the young lord insists, we must prepare for the worst. The lady who gives her heart’s blood may survive, but the poisoned one will die.”

Vince bit his lip, his gaze falling on Guinevere

I could see his pain, and so I turned to the doctor. I will do it. Take my blood.”

The doctor glanced at Vince. The toll on your body—”

I smiled. It’s alright. I’ll recover in time. Saving her is more important.”

Vince stared at me, then abruptly tore a strip from his tunic and blindfolded me. I owe you a debt. I will repay it.”

After he left, the doctor began drawing my blood

The blade pierced deep, each movement agony. Memories surfaced-

When i was eight, my parents died, and I was bullied by the sons of noble families. They mocked me for having no father, no mother, and no one to protect me

Then Vince appeared, scattering them like leaves. He knelt, brushing my tears. Don’t fear. I’ll shield you.”

And he truly had

Even until his last breath, he had shielded me

How could I not love him

But I knew that from the moment I was reborn, I had to sever all ties with him, no matter the cost

The heart blood was drawn, and warm blood flowed from the corner of my mouth. The pain overwhelmed me, and I collapsed, darkness swallowed me as his last words echoed-

Seraphina, if only we’d never met.”

Tears welled up in my eyes as I forced a weak smile. Vince, this timeI’ll let you go.”

When I woke up, the daylight was bright, and I was placed in a room next door

A sharp, twisting, pain spread from my chest, and I could barely move

Looking out the window, I saw that it was nearly noon. It was time for me to leave

The sound of maidens chatting outside reached my ears

Last night was the rarest meteor shower in a hundred years. Did you see it?”

I did, it was so beautiful! I heard that lovers who see it together will be together forever!”

Hearing their happy voices, a feeling of regret stirred in me

Such a beautiful meteor showerI missed it

Spor alter, Vince entered with a bowl of food

It was my favorite dish..

In that fleeting moment, I hadn’t expected him to remember

Vince looked at me, his tone softer than I had heard in a long time

Does it still hurt? Should I call a physician? She’s out of danger, thanks to you.”

I nodded. Alright.”
