Adrian snapped, “Juliana, she’s just back for treatment. Why do you have to be so petry?
Juliana laughed at that
“How am I being petty? Are there no hospitals abroad? No doctors? Or is she broke and needs you to keep her company and arrange her treatment?
Each pointed question intensified his rage, leaving him unable to articulate a response, the anger constricting his throat.
He growled, “Amelia’s treatment plan is crucial for her you know that, don’t you? She’s seriously ill, with multiple organ issues.”
“Oh, sounds like a pretty rare kind of illness. How does someone so young end up falling apart like that?
Her tone was sarcastic, with an undertone of contempt that was impossible to miss.
He couldn’t stand her smide attitude.
She continued, “Unhealthy lifestyle? Or is this… karma?”
That many illnesses at her age? Honestly, it was unusual. That word “karma” hit him like a slap.
Drop that toxic attitude,” he snapped. “Call Amelia and get her back here.”
He didn’t want to argue with her any further. His tone turned icy and commanding.
She arched her brow. “Who exactly do you think you’re ordering around?
It was clear that he didn’t understand her even after yesterday’s events. Who did he think he was to order her around?
Her words made his face darken even more. He clenched his jaw.
“Juliana, our wedding will only happen the moment Yvette recovers. If you think you can play games and keep stalling, go ahead. Let’s see if you can handle the consequences.”
He was fuming now, and his tone was sharp and forceful
He was convinced that once the Larson family found out Amelia’s sudden disappearance was Juliana’s doing, they’d come down hard on her. Then, he’d see if she could take the heat

Lydia held Juliana’s hand tighter, her eyes on Adrian even more piercing now.
Adrian brushed her off in anger and turned to leave without another word.

Without a backward glance, he stopped for a fleeting moment before committing to his departure and walking straight through the doorway
Lydia was even more furious now.

Only Lydia and Juliana were left in the room. Juliana slipped her diamond necklace off and bustudied it to Lydia

The kindness of the Callahan elders made it even more difficult for her to explain to Lydia that a relationship with Adrian was out of the question.
