The next day, to my surprise, Liam stormed into the hospital again. He didn’t utter a single word as he barged into the ward, grabbed Grayson by the collar, and dragged him out without a shred of hesitation.
“What the hell are you doing? Are you out of your mind?” Grayson snapped, fury blazing in his voice as he was hauled into the hallway.
“You don’t believe Belle’s dead? Fine. Today, I’ll make sure you see for yourself.” Liam’s face was a mask of cold fury as he yanked Grayson along, ignoring the latter’s protests.
“You’ve lost it. I’m not going!” Grayson suddenly resisted, panic flashing in his eyes.
“What’s the matter? Afraid? If you’re so convinced she’s alive, then go look for yourself. You coward. You damned beast,” Liam spat, his grip unrelenting.
Despite his struggles and his reluctance, Liam dragged Grayson, kicking and protesting, all the way to the mortuary. With a final shove, he slammed Grayson against the cold metal of the morgue drawer.
“This is her. Look at her! Look at the woman you abandoned–my sister!” Liam’s voice was an icy blade, sharp and cutting. He forced Grayson to stare at my frozen body, lying there, still and lifeless.
Grayson shut his eyes tight, his lips trembling as he muttered incoherently, “No, no, this isn’t Belle. This can’t be her! She’s selfish, cruel, and vindictive. Someone like that doesn’t just die–she wouldn’t–she couldn’t.”
Liam leaned in, his voice low and seething with rage. “Afraid, are you? Open your eyes, you bastard. Look at her! Look at how she died protecting your child! While she was fighting for her last breath, you were busy playing house with that bitch in the hospital.”
Grayson’s resistance crumbled under Liam’s force. His eyes opened, and when they met the sight of my pale, lifeless form, he broke down. He wept–deep, guttural sobs that shook his entire body.
