Declan sneered from the side.
“Brother, how can you be so naive? That Doctor Sun who just left, he’s been here before
and is an old acquaintance of hers. Everything he said was made up to deceive us. And you
believed it?”
Declan was right that I knew Doctor Sun, but only because I had invited him to treat
Declan.
When Declan was three, he contracted a rare disease.

He was like a piece of my flesh. Seeing him suffer, I wished I could take all the pain for
him.
Doctor Sun was moved by my motherly heart and came from afar.

back from the brink of life and death.

Jasper loudly rebuked, “What are you talking about? She’s your biological mom, the doctor who treated you!”
Declan’s eyes reddened as he stubbornly retorted, “No! My mom isn’t such a despicable
person!”
Jasper usually doted on his younger brother, but at this moment, he couldn’t bear to look
at Declan.
He reached out to me, “Mom, let’s go. With me here, you’ll be fine.”
I looked at Jasper with a cold detachment. Was he asking me to leave for my sake or for
Lydia’s?

be with Declan.”
Jasper’s face turned pale, and his hands fell limply to his sides as he looked at me in

Jasper left the room, devastated.

Declan and I walked onto the rooftop, the wind was strong, scattering his voice in
fragments.
“Mom, I haven’t completely forgiven you yet. Pretending to be sick and faking death isn’t
something a normal person would do…”
“Sister Lydia is much better than you. She’s always consistent…”
