The Royal Wolf Knight Order. A name that had haunted me for days as I waited to make my decision. I had seen the posters and heard the rumors–this was a chance to secure my future, to ensure that my unborn child would have a life free of uncertainty. But as I stood at the edge of the arena, looking at the large crowd of wolves surrounding the center ring, doubt gnawed at me.

I wasn’t like them I wasn’t built like these towering Alphas and seasoned warriors, their muscles rippling beneath their skins as they eyed each other like hungry beasts. Most of them were men–big, intimidating.com And here I was, a woman, pregnant and clearly out of my element. It felt like the odds were stacked against me.
But I couldn’t afford to doubt myself, not now. Not with everything on the line. I caressed my growing belly, taking a deep breath, and reminded myself of my reason for being here. My child. My little one, who needed a future, who needed me to be strong
“You’ve got this, Remi,” I whispered to myself, stepping forward. The crowd parted slightly, murmuring as they looked me over. They probably assumed I’d be an easy opponent–just another weakling trying to make a name for herself
The host of the event–a burly wolf with a deep voice that commanded attention–stepped forward and raised
his
hand to signal silence. The crowd quieted, their eyes on him.
“Welcome, everyone, to the Royal Wolf Knight Trials! Today, we begin the initiation with one–on–one battles. Only the strongest will make it to the next phase. Do not hold back. If you want a place here, you will have to earn it!”
The crowd erupted in cheers, and I couldn’t help but feel a surge of adrenaline.
I waited as the first few battles began, my nerves tightening with each growl, each clash of bodies. I studied the warriors carefully, looking for any sign of weakness I could exploit. One thing I knew for sure–I wouldn’t win by sheer force alone. I had to use my agility, my instincts, and everything I had–including the strength the moonstone bestowed upon me
Finally, it was my turn. The host looked at me and then at my opponent–a tall, broad–shouldered man with a confident grin on his face. He towered over me, his muscles bulging as he cracked his knuckles. The crowd’s murmurs grew louder, many of them skeptical, no doubt thinking it was a waste of time for me to even be here.
“You sure you want to do this, little lady?” he asked, his tone condescending.
I met his gaze with all the strength I could muster. “I’m not here to play games,” I said, my voice steady despite
the storm of emotions inside me.
He laughed, and I could see the challenge in his eyes. “You’ll regret this,” he sneered.
The host stepped forward, raising his hand. “Begin!”
Before he even finished the word, I shifted into my wolf form. The moment my paws hit the ground, I felt the surge of power coursing through me. My senses heightened, and I could feel the power of the Moonstone within me, granting me strength I had never known. The world around me seemed to slow as my body adapted to the fight.
The crowd gasped as they saw the transformation–my wolf was sleek, elegant, and fierce. My opponent, on the other hand, was more brute strength than speed. I had the advantage.
He lunged first, attempting to grab me with his massive paws, I dodged, feeling the rush of air as his claws swiped just inches from me. I could feel his arrogance, his overconfidence, and I used it against him. As he stumbled forward, I sank my teeth into his side, pulling back quickly before he could retaliate.
“Not bad,” he grunted, blood dripping from his wound. But I could see the uncertainty in his eyes now. He wasn’t
used to someone his size moving with such speed.
He growled and lunged again, this time with more force. I waited for the perfect moment. As he lunged, I spun to the side and used my hind legs to kick him square in the chest, sending him tumbling back. The crowd let out a collective gasp, and for a moment, I thought I might actually win this
“Get up, you coward!” I heard someone shout from the crowd, but I ignored them. I was focused on the fight, on
the movement of my opponent.
He was getting frustrated now, his attacks more desperate. I knew it was only a matter of time before he made a
mistake, and when he did, I’d be ready.
With a growl, he made one last charge, but this time, he was sloppy. I dodged to the side and lunged for his throat, my jaws locking around his neck. He yelped in surprise and pain, and I twisted, forcing him to the grou
The crowd was silent now. I stood over him, breathing heavily as I watched him struggle beneath me. But he
couldn’t escape. I had won
The host called for the end of the match. “Winner! Remi Astrum!”
A cheer went up from the crowd, and I felt a surge of pride. I had done it. I had proven myself.
As I shifted back into my human form, the host motioned for the winners to step forward. I was one of the last, standing among a group of warriors, all of them men. As we walked toward the head knight, my heart began to race I had no idea what to expect, but there was something about this moment that felt different
Standing tall and commanding at the front of the group was the head royal knight. Laurent. They called him Laurent earlier.
The moment our eyes met, everything else faded away. There was a sudden, inexplicable pull, something deep within me shifting. My heart raced as an overwhelming warmth spread through my chest, and I realized with shock what was happening.
He was my second chance mate.
