The plate shattered against Celia’s head. She let out a cry, clutching her bleeding head and sobbing.”
I pulled Alden up and shielded him behind me, speaking in a lifeless tone, “Alden and I have been together for a while now. I even live in his room. You can always ask my mom and dad if you don’t believe me.”
“You…” Dad was too stunned to get a full sentence out. Meanwhile, Mom burst into tears on the spot, wailing about how their family must be cursed.§
As for Coco and her family, they were so humiliated they scrambled to leave.
After the Norris Family left, the dining room fell into a heavy silence. I sat there holding Alden’s hand, feeling him tremble. I wasn’t sure if it was from fear or excitement.
