With that thought, Daisy clutched her wound as a scheme formed in her mind. Crying, she continued to slander me. “Nick, Gerald, please don’t be fooled by her! That child might not even be yours. Who knows, it could belong to one of those black men!”
“She must be faking her death to manipulate you two into turning the public opinion in her favor. But everything was her fault in the first place. She even almost killed me! Are you really going to indulge her and let her keep hurting me in the future?“}
In the past, whenever she said such things, the two of them would fear for her well–being and side with her, scolding me.
But now, my brother only turned around and glared at her fiercely.”
“I know my sister’s character. She would never do something that disgraceful and she would never stab you without reason. You must’ve said something that provoked her!“}
Gerald’s eyes were bloodshot as he gripped her wrist tightly and questioned harshly, “That’s right! When Luna and I were together, it was
her first time to have an intimate moment with me. How could she possibly have had anything to do with those black men? After we rescued her, the doctor clearly said her condition wasn’t severe enough to be fatal!”
“Why did her condition worsen right after you sneaked into the room while we weren’t around?“}
“And another thing, this is a private hospital with tight security. There’s no way those reporters could have barged in without the bodyguards‘ permission. Was it you?“>
Hearing this, Nick pulled out his phone and made a call.
“Tell the head of hospital security to come see me. I want to know why those reporters were allowed in today!“}]
A flicker of guilt and panic crossed Daisy’s face. Clutching her shoulder, she rolled her eyes and tried to feign unconsciousness. But Gerald and Nick completely ignored her, turning back to my bedside, calling my name.”
It wasn’t until the doctor removed his mask and shook his head, indicating there was nothing more they could do, that they collapsed to their knees in front of my hospital bed.
Nick held my hand, murmuring, “Luna…we promised we’d live happily, so Mom and Dad wouldn’t have to worry about us from up above. Why did you break your promise…? If you heard what I said… you should know that I had no choice. I only ever wanted to stay by your side…”
Gerald sobbed and said in a low voice, “It was our fault… We shouldn’t have kept it from her, or let those people hurt her. Do not do unto others what you don’t want done to yourself…”}
“We were so afraid of dying that we crueily pushed everything onto her! We forgot that even if she didn’t die, she would still feel pain. She would still despair, still hurt…“}
“Luna… Luna used to cry even when she got a small cut on her finger. Just how much pain and hopelessness must she have felt in that room…”
My brother roared in fury, “Enough! Don’t say another word!“}]
At that moment, the head of security arrived.} –
He took one look at the scene in the hospital room and turned pale with fear, his voice trembling as he spoke, “Mr. Helmes, you… you called for me?”
“Why were those reporter’s allowed in today? Don’t tell me you all just abandoned your posts! Do you have any idea? My sister was so traumatized by those people that she lost her life!“}
Nick’s cold, venomous glare was like a snake’s, making the head of security collapse to his knees in fright.
“It wasn’t us, Mr. Helmes! It was Miss Daisy who ordered us not to stop them!“>
My brother’s expression darkened instantly. He turned and kicked the “unconscious” Daisy hard.§
“So it was you! If not for you, my sister wouldn’t have died!”
Gerald also stood up and stepped down on Daisy’s injured left shoulder. She screamed in pain.
‘Nick, Gerald, don’t listen to him. He’s lying! I didn’t…!“}
“Go bring me the security footage from today. I want to see the surveillance!”
At Nick’s command, the head of security scrambled out of the room on all fours.
Soon, he returned with the footage.
On the screen, Daisy stood with her arms crossed arrogantly, speaking with a condescending tone.
