Chapter 12 Her Birthday
Michael flipped over the collar of her dress and glanced at the label.
He had never chosen clothes for a woman before, nor did he know what Josephine liked.

He couldn’t possibly force her to wear a dress just because he liked the way it looked. He was marrying a wife, not playing a simulation game.
He glanced again at the plate in front of her, then turned to the housekeeper and instructed, “She’s too thin. Make sure she eats more; otherwise, how will she get pregnant in the future?”
With that, he went to the study to fetch some documents. His face was impassive, and he didn’t exchange another word with Josephine.
Josephine instinctively shrank her neck when he flipped her collar. As his fingertips brushed the nape of her neck, it felt like a jolt of electricity, causing the hairs on her back to stand on end.
Bearing a child was out of the question. She had never considered having a baby for him.
She had no intention of replacing the old dress as well.
It was a birthday gift she received on her eighteenth birthday last year, a present from Myla. However, Myla had passed away a decade ago, making the dress the final memento left for her.
After being driven out by the Sommer family. Myla had no choice but to take Josephine back to their rural hometown. There, they lived a life of hardship with Ryan,
Later, Myla fell ill from overwork. When Josephine was just eight years old, Myla passed away from the sickness. Before her death, she used all the money she Had saved throughout her life to arrange Josephine’s birthday presents every year, from the age of ten up until she turned eighteen.
“Sweetheart, I won’t be there to watch you grow up, but my wish is for you to always have someone by your side on your future birthdays and to always receive presents.”
Every year on her birthday, Josephine would receive a gift from Myla
The money used to buy the gifts came from the sale of Myla’s inherited jewelry. Unfortunately, due to limited funds, the gifts could only be prepared up until Josephine’s eighteenth birthday.
That day marked Josephine’s nineteenth birthday, which explained her unchanged attire. The Sommer family wouldn’t remember it was her birthday, and there was no one left in the world to prepare a birthday gift for her anymore.
Josephine lowered her head, sitting down silently to eat
Jorvan rubbed his eyes vigorously, his expression one of utter shock.
I’m not mistaken, right?”
Did Mr. Jaywalker actually touch Mrs. Jaywalker’s neck just now?
He even mentioned something about her getting pregnant!

Jorvan was so overwhelmed with excitement that he was shaking. He quickly turned around and stepped out the door, wanting to phone Gloria recuperating in Yolham to report the news.
The Jaywalker family is finally having an heir.”
The breakfast spread was quite lavish, but Josephine wasn’t in the mood. She only ate a little before getting up and heading toward the door.
The two bodyguards standing at the entrance quickly stopped her, offering apologetic smiles.
“Mrs. Jaywalker, Mr. Jaywalker has instructed that you are not to leave
Josephine frowned. Is he planning on treating me like a pet keeping me cooped up at home for the rest of my life?
She clenched her fists and looked up.
“Move aside!”
Knowing she was a fool, the bodyguard said, “How about you give Mr. Jaywalker a call?”
This wasn’t Jaywalker Manor, but rather Michael’s private mansion, where he alone had the final say.
Josephine had no choice but to call Michael.
The phone rang iwice before the call connected.
“Michael, I want to-
“You’re Josephine?” A woman’s voice echoed from the other end of the phone, brimming with utter surprise.
Josephine covered the mouthpiece of the phone, glancing at the number displayed.
It’s correct!
I dialed Michael’s private cell, a number only a select few are privy to. So why did Winry answer the phone?
Josephine furrowed her brows.
In those few seconds, Winry had recognized her and immediately launched into a tirade of harsh rebukes.
“Josephine, where have you been hiding these past few days? You’ve brought disaster upon the Sommer family!”
The shrill sound nearly shattered Josephine’s eardrums Composing herself, she asked, “You’re with Mr. Jaywalker?”
“Well, of course!” Winry suddenly snapped back to reality. “Where on earth did you get Michael’s phone number?”
“It’s none of your business.”
“Michael spent the night with me yesterday. He’s going to marry me, not a fool like you! Stop deluding yourself! Now, go back to the Sommer residence, or–1

Before she could finish speaking, Josephine abruptly ended the call, her palm slick with sweat,
Her mind was somewhat in a mess.
Michael didn’t come back last night. He spent the night with inry

Mom was right. No matter how much a teman loves a man, he should never make him her everything. Because once a man changes his heart, he can become incredibly ruthless.
I will not follow in Mom’s footsteps.
I must leave this place today.
At Jaywalker Group, Winry, with the stealth of a thief, quickly put Michael’s phone back where it belonged.
No sooner had she set it down than the towering figure of Michael, clad in a black suit, strode in, followed by two assistants.
Winry forced a charming smile as she walked over. “Mr Jaywalker, 1—”
Noticing her presence, Michael immediately halted in his tracks.
“Who let her into my office?”
The assistant was equally bewildered. “She claimed to be from the Sommer family. Is she not Mrs. Jaywalker?”
Winry felt a pang of guilt and shrank back slightly. Earlier, the receptionist had tried to stop her from entering. Cunningly, she had introduced herself as Ms Sommer, causing the receptionist to mistakenly assume she was Michael’s fiancée. Immediately, they apologized and let her through.
Michael was fully aware of Winry’s tactics. “Get her out of here, and never allow her entry in the future!
Winry was taken aback by his complete lack of consideration. She quickly pleaded, “Mr. Jaywalker, I came to apologize and discuss the matter of compensating for the dress.”
