Josephine’s breath hitched. She instantly recognized Michael’s Voice.
He knows my phone number? Well, I suppose Jorvan told him
Getting no response, Michael asked again, “Why aren’t you saying anything? If you haven’t found : suitable outfit, I can have Jorvan take you to another-
“Mr. Jaywalker, your taste in women is really questionable,” Josephine blurted out.
No sooner had she finished speaking than she quickly covered the mouthpiece.

Sure enough, as soon as Josephine finished speaking, the person on the other end of the phone fell silent.
Josephine instinctively shrank back, her heart filled with unease. She could easily imagine the dark expression on Michael’s face after he heard her words.
If he was there, with his volatile temper, he might have strangled her.
Outside the store, a sleek, black Rolls–Royce Phantom pulled up to the curb. Michael’s intense gaze pierced through the car window, fixated on the slender figure inside the store. His long fingers clenched tightly around his phone, knuckles turning white.
He was returning to the office after a meeting. Upon passing by this place, he pulled over to give Josephine
a call.
Little did he expect her to question his taste in woman out of the blue.
Michael’s face remained cold. As she was the only woman by his side, she wondered if Josephine was mocking him or ridiculing her own foolishness.
At that moment, a young man in the back seat of the car burst into laughter.
“Michael, your little bride is quite unique…”
The phone was on speaker mode.
Michael, with a sullen face, ignored him. He picked up his phone, turned off the speaker, and lifted it to
his ear.
In the presence of his friend, it wasn’t appropriate for him to lose his temper. So, he calmly asked into his phone, “Mrs. Jaywalker, could you please explain what you meant when you said my taste in women is questionable?”
Josephine bit her lip
She hadn’t yet figured out how to explain.

“I’m giving you three seconds to figure out what to say
The man’s voice on the other end of the line was chillingly cold, a clear sign of his anger.
Josephine batted her eyelashes, raising her voice slightly as she spoke into the phone.
“Mike is angry, Josie is scared! I don’t want to buy clothes anymore. I want to go home…”
Michael was momentarily taken aback. He rubbed his temple and let out a sigh of irritation.
Only then did his expression soften a little.
I’ve forgotten that she’s a fool
I can’t believe I actually bothered to argue with a fool!

At that moment, Michael spotted Winry and the others in the store.

Given Josephine’s intellect, she wouldn’t have said something ke that. It’s likely something she heard from Winry.

Michael wanted to lose his temper, but he was afraid of searing Josephine. He had no choice but to suppress his anger and said in a deep voice, “Just buy if ask you to. I… I’m not angry.”
Josephine secretly rolled her eyes. He doesn’t sound angry He probably doesn’t want to argue with me since he thinks I’m a fool.
Taking advantage of that, she stubbornly persisted, “Bu Winry is also in the store. If you’re buying clothes for her, then I don’t want any!”
“Winry?” Michael suddenly remembered the events of the morning and patiently explained, “I didn’t buy anything for her. This morning, during the company meeting, I asked her to help you choose a few dresses. Isn’t it your birthday today? You refuse to wear the clothes I’ve already picked out for you in the wardrobe.”
While he was in the meeting, he had a nagging feeling that he was forgetting something. It wasn’t until the meeting ended that he remembered it was Josephine’s birthday today.
The young
man in the car gaped. “Michael, did I hear you right? You’re buying clothes for a woman? And you’re even coaxing her?”
The man was his childhood friend, Jonathan, heir to the Lantz family.

Michael shot him a warning glance, urging him to keep quiet, but he maintained a gentle tone while on the phone.
“If you don’t like trying on clothes with others around, just ask Jorvan to call the manager and clear the place. You can shop by yourself.
Jonathan was utterly shocked, his eyes nearly popping out of his head.
Michael Jaywalker, the man at the pinnacle of power in Junbert, is known for his decisiveness, distaste for women, and cold–hearted nature that keeps others at bay.

Under the bright lights of the shop, Josephine held her breath, her eyelashes gently quivering a few times.
No wonder he seemed displeased this morning when he notice I wasn’t wearing any of the new clothes. It turns out he had picked them out.
Suddenly, an indescribable feeling filled her heart, light and soft like a marshmallow.
Still uncertain, she asked again, “Mr. Jaywalker, you know that today is my birthday?”
Aside from Myla, no one remembered that today was her birthday.
Caiden had no idea when her birthday was, nor did Eunice, Yves, or Winry. She was completely overlooked at home.
Michael responded with a casual hum. He knew her birthday from the information his subordinates had gathered about her.
He also knew that she turned nineteen today.
However, for Michael, celebrating Josephine’s birthday was merely a matter of etiquette, as she was his fiancée.
He didn’t have time to throw her a birthday party. Their marriage was simply to fulfill a contract. Treating each other with mutual respect was sufficient; there was no need for the intimacy of a romantic couple.
Glancing at the time, Michael said, “I’ve asked Zendaya to prepare a full dinner for tonight. Once you’re done with your shopping, make sure to come home early for dinner.”
“Okay,” Josephine responded. Catching sight of Winry preening herself in the mirror’s reflection, she blurted out, “Was Winry with you last night-”
The man had already hung up.
Josephine clutched her phone, her emotions in turmoil Is he dodging my question or just evading the issue?
Who exactly does he want to be with? Or does he want both of us!
She pursed her lips, silently adding another label to Michael, who was already tagged as “violent” in her mind–playboy.
