Chapter 13
After leaving Ethan, Faith settled down in Averna.
She joined her dream company and found a good school for Callie there.
She worked diligently, participating in developing the company’s new product. Her efforts were recognized by her colleagues.
One day after work, Faith’s colleague, Kevin Hansler, stopped her.
“Ms. Sullivan, your talents came as a surprise to me. Your ideas are truly remarkable.”
“Thank you for the compliment, Mr. Hansler,” Faith replied with a smile.
“Would you like to have dinner with me? I really admire you and would love to get to know you better,” Kevin said openly, without bothering to mask his romantic interest.
Faith hesitated, unsure how to decline.
At that moment, Callie ran out of the elevator.
“Sir, my mom is busy. She has to spend time with me,” Callie said, hugging Faith and turning down the invitation on her behalf.
Kevin looked embarrassed and chuckled awkwardly. “My apologies, Ms. Sullivan. I didn’t know you were married. Your daughter is adorable.” “It’s alright, Mr. Hansler.”
Callie blinked and studied Kevin carefully. “Sir, my mom isn’t ready to date right now, but you can try again later. I’ll even help you out then.” “Oh? Would your dad be okay with that?”
“I don’t have a dad. If you want to be my dad, I can think about it,” Callie replied cheekily.
“Alright, then,” Kevin laughed and shook her hand. “You promised to help me, so no going back on your word.”
Callie nodded. “I’ll take my mom home now.”
She pulled Faith away from the office, looking more cheerful than before.
Faith gently brushed a strand of hair from Callie’s face. “I just want to be with you. I’m not interested in dating, so don’t try to set me up with anyone anymore, okay?”
“No way! I want you to find someone who loves both of us. We’ll be even happier that way,” Callie said, clinging to her arm.
Faith smiled but didn’t respond. She simply held Callie close.
She wouldn’t ask for much–all she wanted was for Callie to be happy.
Back in Lothania, Ethan had received the divorce papers and certificate Faith had delivered to him.
He felt devastated having read through the documents.
No, he wouldn’t accept this divorce. The agreement was from six years ago–it didn’t count.
He refused to divorce Faith, as he couldn’t lose her and Callie.
He rushed to the law firm with the papers, searching for the lawyer who had handled Faith’s divorce. “Where is Faith? Why wasn’t I contacted about the divorce?”
