With Ethan at the helm, his company gradually emerged from chaos and returned to business as usual.
Under his orders, various departments plunged into intense work and investigations. It didn’t take them long to discover that Nicole was behind all the trouble.
Ethan’s kindness toward Nicole was obvious, and she exploited this to freely enter and leave his office. When he was in a slump, she continuously stole and sold company secrets.
On the day Nicole was caught, she was preparing to flee with Daniel.
Ethan intercepted them at the airport.
“Ethan, please let me go. I just wanted to make some money and live a good life with Daniel,” Nicole pleaded, kneeling on the ground. “I returned to Lothania for you, but you didn’t want me anymore…”
“Dad, you’ve always loved me and Mom the most. Please don’t arrest us, okay?” Daniel chimed in, his voice trembling.
“Ethan, the company is rich. Can’t you just let this go? We loved each other once. Please don’t be so cruel to me,” Nicole begged, her voice breaking. “I really loved you. I truly wanted to come home and be with you.”
Nicole’s demeanor was pitiful and degrading. Ethan couldn’t bear to look at her.
“Nicole, if that man of yours hadn’t gone bankrupt, would you have come back to Lothania?” he asked coldly.
Nicole’s body went limp, and she slumped to the ground.
“Ethan, I did love you,” she whispered.
“Hand them over to the relevant authorities. Subject them to the law,” Ethan ordered, his voice firm.
“No, Ethan, please don’t do this to me! I’m begging you!” Nicole cried out.
“Dad, don’t arrest us. I won’t call Callie the bastard child of a mistress anymore. Please don’t take me away,” Daniel pleaded, his voice rising in panic. When Daniel realized Ethan wasn’t relenting, he shouted and thrashed around. “You’re a bad guy! Don’t arrest me! Let me go, you bad guy!”
Ethan closed his eyes, overwhelmed with guilt. He had spoiled this unruly child while neglecting his own daughter, who was well–behaved.
“Ethan, you really deserve this, don’t you?” he thought bitterly.
With a wave of his hand, he said in exhaustion, “Take them away.”
Nicole, involved in a massive financial scandal, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. Daniel’s biological father refused to take him in, and he was sent to an orphanage.
….
A year passed in the blink of an eye, and Ethan still hadn’t tracked down Faith ok Callie. He buried himself in work, refusing to allow himself a moment of
rest.
One day, Ethan was invited to an AI summit.
As he scanned the list of technical employees, a familiar name caught his eye. His heart skipped a beat, and he couldn’t help but repeatedly run his fingers over the name–Faith Sullivan.
Overjoyed, he canceled all his work commitments and decided to attend the summit.
The day before the summit, Faith returned to Lothania with Callie.
Coming back home felt comforting to Callie.
“Mom, it’s so nice to be back in a familiar place,” Callie said, snuggling in Faith’s arms. Her mood was bright.
Faith smiled. Yes, home was indeed the best. She and Callie would never have left if it hadn’t been for Ethan.
When Faith decided to return for the summit, she had anticipated running into Ethan. She thought she had moved on, but the moment she saw him, her heart ached with sadness.
Ethan, dressed in a sharp black suit, stood tall and straight. He set an intense gaze on Faith and Callie as he walked toward them.
“Faith, Callie,” he said, his voice trembling with emotion.
His eyes darted between the two of them.
“Hello, Uncle Ethan,” Callie greeted him politely.
Ethan froze. His heart was broken into pieces. “Callie, I’m not your uncle. I’m your dad,” he corrected her, his voice choked with emotion.
Callie looked at him calinly. “I don’t have a dad. You’re just Uncle Ethan to me.”
The words hit Ethan like lightning. His face twisted in pain as he crouched down and reached out to bug Callie, But she dodged his touch and hid behind

Faith.
“I’m sorry. I was wrong. Callie, will you give me another chance?” Ethan’s arm hung in the air, his eyes red and brimming with tears.
Callie had hidden entirely behind Faith and gave no response.
“Faith, I’m sorry. I hurt you. I’m so sorry,” Ethan said, putting aside his ego as he humbly apologized to Faith.
Her heart trembled at his words.
