The old man widened his eyes like he’d just been cursed. “Thing looked decent on the outtrade, but the inside? Total junk. The guts were stripped out, nothing worked. You want a bag of broken parti?”
The guy went silent, stuck somewhere between confusion and disgust.
The old man gave a pitiful sigh and shook his head. “I’ve been doing this junk trade my whole life, and the willl got me. Gave her a bunch of money for a pile of scrap. You guys her friends or something? Help me gen my money back?”
The men were already halfway out the door.

“My old friend.. looks like that girl’s got people watching over her. You can rest easy now.”
Back in the city, Quinn was busy building her company, unaware of the people working in the shadows to protect her–or of the fact that Olive was starting to suspect something
Zayden, however, wasn’t the type to do a good deed without making it known. He sent Quinn a carefully worded message Explaining exactly what had happened.
She responded with a simple thank–you emoji and opened the attachment.
Reading through it carefully, Quinn felt both relief and alarm. If Olive had been digging into Norman’s hospital footage, then maybe she knew more than Quinn had expected.
