Chapter 52 He Always Cared About You

Quinn felt her heart bleed. She forced a pale smile and said, “You’re using Grandpa to force me to choose again, aren’t you?”
These are the people I once thought I could count on. What a joke. If I let Olive off the hook, then what was the point of everything Grandpa’s suffered these past three years? But if I don’t let Olive go, what happens if Grandpa ends up in her
hands?
Quinn didn’t even dare to imagine. Once Olive started crying, yelling, and threatening to hurt herself, the Fairchild family wouldn’t blame her at all.
Because in their eyes, her grandpa who couldn’t speak or move was just a decoration.
Quinn pushed herself to speak. “Fine, if that’s how it is, then I…”
“Quinn!” A hoarse voice called out from nearby.
That familiar voice made Quinn whip her head around. When she saw who it was, her tears broke free like a dam.
“Grandpa, you’re finally awake!”
Although Norman had been unconscious, he’d picked up on a few key words. Even though he had just woken up and was still extremely weak, once he learned that Betty had come to pressure Quinn, he forced himself up–thankfully, the meeting place wasn’t far.
Even if it cost him every ounce of strength, he wouldn’t let Quinn be bullied.
At that moment, the Fairchild family arrived after hearing the news.
Eugene rushed in and lit up at the sight of Norman. “Dad, you’re okay!”
Betty’s eyes widened in shock. She clutched her mouth and collapsed onto the couch–she hadn’t expected Norman to actually wake up.
She had just used him to threaten Quinn.
“Dad…”
Norman slammed his cane against the floor with a sharp thud, the sound full of authority.
He snorted coldly. “So now you remember I’m your dad? Olive tried to harm me, and not only did you not punish her, you used me to force Quinn to forgive her. I’m not dead yet!”
Colton walked in just in time to hear that and froze. He hadn’t expected Norman to wake up so soon.
Norman’s hand, resting on Quinn’s wrist, trembled with force. His legs shook too.
Waking up had drained most of his strength, but he was holding on for Quinn.
Quinn steadied him, her expression focused.

Colton frowned and stepped in front of Norman. “Grandpa, this is your home. We can take good care of you.”
Eugene and Betty also rushed forward, trying to stop him.
“Dad, your body’s still weak. It’s better to stay home, otherwise your health won’t hold up.”
Norman scoffed again, his voice so steady and full it sounded like he’d never been sick. “You wish I wasn’t well. You just want my company shares and my assets, don’t you?”
The Fairchilds all went pale at his words.
But Betty wouldn’t let it go. “Dad, Olive didn’t mean to. She really respects and loves you. Please talk to Quinn for me, tell her to let it go.”
Quinn’s heart went completely cold. Even now, Betty was still speaking up for Olive.
Norman gave her a sharp glare and said nothing. He let Quinn help him walk out.
No one dared to stop him–not until they got his shares.
“Quinn…”
As soon as Norman got into the car, he lost consciousness again.
“Grandpa!”
Quinn panicked. She held him steady and shouted to the driver, “To the hospital, hurry!”
She rushed Norman to the hospital, heart racing. It wasn’t until the doctor said he was stable that she finally relaxed a little.
Zayden had heard the news that Norman was awake and came to the hospital. When he arrived, Norman was still unconscious.
Quinn was quietly keeping watch by the bed.
She had slumped over at Norman’s bedside, clearly exhausted. Her face was pale, and even in sleep, her brows were furrowed.
Zayden gently draped a coat over her shoulders, but Quinn jolted awake the moment she felt it, eves shooting toward the bed.
“Grandpa!”
Zayden was startled by how sharp her reaction was and quickly reassured her.
“It’s okay. He’s fine. I asked the doctor. He’s just still very weak after waking up. He’ll be better after some
rest ”

Without warning, she grabbed Zayden’s hand. “I thought I had let Grandpa down. But in the end, it was Grandpa who saved me.”
No matter what choice she made, she would have regretted it forever. The Fairchilds never gave her a way
out.
Zayden reached out and gently patted her head, just like he used to.
“Your grandpa’s always cared about you. Now that he’s awake, he’ll slowly get better. Don’t push yourself so hard.”
