Quinn glanced at the front passenger seat, and Zayden’s face had turned as dark as coal.
Quinn cleared her throat softly and tapped Zayden’s back. “Zayden, thank you for saving me and Grandpa. I’ll treat you to a meal too.”
Her words made Zayden’s heart stir, and the corner of his eyes even grew a little sore.
It had been a long time since he had heard her call his name.
A month later, at the second trial, the judge who had helped the Fairchild family was also sentenced.
Olive’s life sentence was finalized, even though she had requested a retrial from the Supreme Court, which was ruthlessly rejected.
Betty was heartbroken by her words, and she locked herself in her room every day, muttering to herself while holding the things Quinn had once given her, “It’s all my fault. I didn’t see clearly. I hurt you.”
Colton was busy trying to save the faltering Fairchild family and had asked Zayden for help during this time. Helping Colton meant being against Quinn, and Zayden could hardly avoid it.
Colton and Xavier still had some skill, and though the largest company of the Fairchild family had fallen, they managed to save one of its subsidiaries.
Even a dead camel is bigger than a horse, and the two of them started working on their business again.
During this time, they attempted to reconcile with Quinn but were repeatedly turned away.
Their business was also not doing well, and the once–highly–demanding Xavier now wore clothes he had previously considered cheap.
A month after Olive entered prison, a plainly dressed Xavier came to the prison with a birthday cake.
Olive was escorted to the visiting room in prison clothes by a guard.
Xavier had never been to this place, so when he saw the transparent glass separating him from Olive, he didn’t know where to place the cake.
Olive’s eyes, once dull and lifeless, held a glimmer of hope when she saw Xavier.
She quickly grabbed the intercom, “Xavier, you finally came to see me! You have no idea what I’ve been through here.”
Tears streamed down her face as she spoke, no longer caring about her image.
Xavier finally placed the cake on the floor and looked at the sister he had once pampered.
“Olive, I came to say…”
Before he could finish, Olive interrupted impatiently, “Xavier, I’m trying my best here to behave well and get a reduced sentence.: Xavier, can you help me again? I don’t want to spend my life in prison.”

completely drowned it in the tide of time. The fact that he bought her this cake was already a sign of goodwill.
Olive froze for a few seconds, incredulously blaming him.
“Xavier, what are you talking about? How could the Fairchild family go bankrupt? Have you been fooled by Quinn, too, and don’t want to help me? Do you want me to die here?”
Xavier was startled by Olive’s red eyes. She now looked like a demon from hell.
“Do you have any idea what I’ve been through here? Anyone can insult me and step on me!”
Olive’s hands gripped the glass tightly, her face contorted in rage, her eyes bloodshot and bulging
Xavier felt a sense of unfamiliarity and fear. He stepped back in disgust, pointing at Olive’s nose as he yelled at her.
“What you’ve gone through doesn’t even compare to a tenth of what Quinn went through. If you can’t handle this, imagine how miserable Quinn must have been. You deserve everything that happened to you. And you’re still not regretting it? Stay in prison and reflect on it!”
After saying that, Xavier turned to leave.
Looking at the Xavier who had always pampered her, Olive suddenly turned hostile.
She panicked.
“No, I don’t want to stay here anymore. No, Xavier, you can’t leave. What will I do if you leave? Xavier! Xavier, I was wrong. I’ll change. Just get me out of here. It’s too terrifying here. If I stay, I’ll die. I’ll listen to whatever you say as long as you help me get out of here, please…”
Olive hid the hatred in her eyes and cried pitifully.
Just wait! Once I’m out, everyone who’s wronged me will pay, especially that b*tch Quinn!
“Fine…”
Xavier’s footsteps paused. He looked back at Olive’s pleading expression, seemingly softened, and responded with a quiet “fine.”
But then he turned and asked the question that had been on his mind since the trial day.
“Why did you bully Anna Blake?”
Olive frowned when she heard this. “Who is Anna Blake?”
“My desk mate in high school. You met her when you were in middle school.”
Olive looked frightened, not daring to meet Xavier’s eyes. But Xavier did not stop questioning, as he had already seen through her guilt.
“They said you bullied Anna and tried to disfigure her face, but accidentally cut her eye, and you had Zack handle it because you were afraid it would get exposed.”
