Norman had pointed at Leroy’s nose and scolded him, but Leroy wasn’t angry. He waited until Norman finished his rant, deflated and sat down.
Leroy set down the cup that had nearly been knocked out of his hand by Norman, sizing him up. “Are you calm now?”
“What good does it do for me to calm down? I’m angry just hearing it, let alone Quinn. No wonder Quinn doesn’t bother with him anymore.”
Norman, still fuming, pinched the corner of his eyes, the anger in his heart lingering and refusing to dissipate.
“That’s not all. Although Quinn never mentioned it, I saw a live stream that day. The video in the lobby showing Quinn being bullied–Quinn’s gaze was fixed on Zayden,” Leroy said thoughtfully.
They all hoped that Quinn and Zayden could reconcile and return to how they were before.
But now it seemed that the misunderstanding between the two young ones was huge, and their emotional knots wouldn’t untangle so easily.
“Do you think those people were really incited by Zayden?” Norman guessed, his brow furrowing deeper.
Leroy shook his head, shrugged, and said, “I didn’t believe it either, but I checked, and those people admitted Zayden had incited them.”
Upon hearing this, Norman’s mind was a mess. Given the current situation, there was no way Quinn would forgive Zayden. Even if he were to pluck the stars from the sky, Quinn still wouldn’t change her mind. Norman knew just how stubborn she was.
Meanwhile, Quinn, who was finishing up project wrap–up work, received an invitation from Marcus. She set aside her work and agreed to meet him.
By the time Quinn arrived, Marcus had already ordered the food.
“Marcus, why did you call me here? Is it about work?”
Marcus handed her a piece of exquisite cake, interrupting her with a smile. “What’s wrong? Can you come out for a meal if it’s not work?”
Quinn simply smiled, savoring the cake.
She could tell Marcus had something on his mind and waited for him to speak.
“I heard your grandpa and Mr. Leroy spent the whole afternoon together. They seem to be very good friends.”
Quinn took a sip of lemon water, the sweet cake taste fading somewhat.
“Yeah, I remember they were very close when they were younger.”
Otherwise they wouldn’t have arranged the encrement

Upon hearing this, Quinn paused her eating, an awkward smile appearing on her face. She hadn’t expected Marcus to ask this.
“Marcus, why are you asking this? Is there something going on?”
Marcus got straight to the point, offering her a piece of Black Forest cake. “Quinn, as your senior, I think Zayden is not right for you.”
Quinn cut him off with an awkward laugh, rejecting the suggestion. “Marcus, I don’t want to discuss this with you.”
She tried to avoid the topic, grabbing her bag to leave, but Marcus grabbed her slender wrist.
Quinn couldn’t break free, and she didn’t want to sit back down, caught in a standoff.
“He’s helped you a lot, but he’s also caused you considerable harm in the past. You’re conflicted inside, so you avoid the issue. This hesitant Quinn is not the hard–working girl I know.”
Marcus‘ gentle voice felt like a spring breeze, softly brushing against Quinn’s heart.
At that moment, Quinn turned back and sat down.
“Can I know what happened between you two? Don’t worry, I won’t try to change your decision. I just don’t want to see you so conflicted every day. You don’t seem happy.”
Marcus thought that this would open Quinn up, letting her spill her emotions. But he had underestimated Quinn’s patience and overestimated his trust in her.
In the end, Quinn said nothing, finding an excuse to slip away.
Marcus‘ plan fell through. He gently stroked his fingers, which had just held Quinn’s wrist, as if her warmth still lingered. After a while, he sighed and sniffed his fingers, savoring the scent.
After a long moment, he smiled. “She’s really a smart little girl.”
If a girl was willing to open up about past pain, it meant that someone was not far from entering her heart.
Marcus believed that with their past relationship and the–time they had spent together, Quinn would let down her guard and confide in him. He hadn’t expected her to remain so closed off.
It only showed how deeply she had been hurt.
The large restaurant was empty except for Marcus. Soon, a man wearing glasses approach him.
“Mr. Howard, the people abroad are urging you to return.”
Marcus hummed softly, picked up a button from the floor, and examined it. It was the same color as the one on Quinn’s clothing.
“Alright, let’s go back then. Sometimes you have to let things develop on their own. Maybe it will lead to the
result I want.”
The man in sunglasses escorted Marcus to the car, and he began to plan his days ahead.
