“It’s been so long, and you can’t even give me a hug?” Jasper said with displeasure.
“Disgusting.” Zayden turned and walked outside with disdain.
“How about it? Do you miss me? I sure missed you.” Jasper, unfazed, walked alongside him, excited.
“Just come back already, why do I have to pick you up?”
“Oh, isn’t this a way to show how good our relationship is?”
Zayden raised his wrist again and said to Jasper, “I’ve already picked you up. You can go back on your own. I still have things to do.”
Jasper immediately started to act stubborn. “Don’t, I really don’t want to go back to that violent house. I haven’t had coffee with Mr. Leroy in so long. How about I stay at your place for a while?”
Zayden couldn’t refuse, nor did he want to waste time with him. He gave him an exasperated look and didn’t say anything more.
Before returning to the Grant residence, Zayden drove to the building where Quinn worked.
At this time, Quinn would always appear downstairs from her office and then take a car back home.
Zayden, driving a low–key car, watched her from a distance, keeping his eyes on her until she disappeared from sight before leaving.
It was always the same.
Jasper looked at Zayden’s lovesick expression and clicked his tongue. He couldn’t believe the usually flirtatious Zayden would act so infatuated.
Curious, he followed Zayden’s gaze to see what kind of girl could make Zayden so smitten.
But when he saw Quinn’s face, he froze as if facing a great enemy.
From what he remembered, Quinn was the one who had gone to jail for hitting someone,
Didn’t Zayden say he didn’t like Quinn? Has he regretted it over the past three years? Or has something happened while I’ve been gone? But after how unpleasant things were between them back then, how could…
Sweat started to form on Jasper’s back.
Until Quinn had walked away, Zayden turned around to look at Jasper, who was still acting uneasy.
“What are you doing? Can’t you just sit properly? Your face is so pale. If you’re not feeling well, I’ll take you to the hospital.”
Jasper awkwardly coughed and made up an excuse. “Is that so? Maybe it’s just jet lag and adjusting to the local environment.”

“Wait, I just remembered there’s something really important at home. If I don’t take care of it, my dad will break my legs. I’ll visit your place next time.”
With that, Jasper opened the car door and ran off.
When he got home, as expected, he saw his dad holding a rattan cane. Jasper instinctively took a step back, but then, remembering what he had just realized, he slid into a kneel in front of his dad, Bernard Hawkins, in a comical and ridiculous manner.
“Dad, go ahead, I shouldn’t have gone abroad without permission, and I played around for three years without calling you. Go ahead and hit me.”
Bernard’s anger was instantly dampened. In the past, trying to punish this kid was more difficult than anything. One hit, and he’d probably flip the house over.
Has the kid changed after three years?
Seeing Bernard not moving, Jasper grew even more curious about what had happened during this time. He grabbed the rattan cane and hit himself a few times.
He didn’t forget to sniffle and act pitiful.
“Dad, I’m done. Please calm down. I have something to take care of, so I’ll go upstairs.”
The entire scene lasted no more than a minute.
Bernard looked at the rattan cane in his hand. Knowing his son, he didn’t believe he’d be so obedient. Jasper must have done something worse than running away from home.
Meanwhile, Zayden arrived home to find Norman sitting on their couch with a sour look on his face.
When he saw Zayden, he didn’t soften his expression, and his grandfather was sitting next to him.
The atmosphere was awkward, and both men turned to look at Zayden as he walked in.
Leroy coughed lightly, gave him a look, and then waved. “Zayden, come here.”
Zayden obediently walked over, and Norman shot him a sharp glare.
“Tell me, have you upset Quinn recently?”
“I didn’t.” Zayden answered honestly.
Unexpectedly, Norman exploded.
“You didn’t? Quinn called your name in her nightmare last night! That night…”
Norman adjusted his beard, which had risen with his anger, but stopped himself before finishing the thought.
How could I let this brat know that Quinn is so fragile? She probably doesn’t want him to know either
