Chapter 9
I almost got murdered, but he didn’t even bother to call the cops! Worse than a total bystander!}
Maybe the look of disgust in my eyes was too obvious, because he scratched his head and explained, “I was gonna call the cops, I swear. I’d just hit the button when the sirens showed up…”
‘Right. By the time you called, I’d be cold and dead.“}
A week later, I was back in court. The stitches in my arm were still fresh–15 of them, thanks to that psycho.
Vicky sat alone on the defendant’s side. No lawyer this time. She’d been dragged straight from jail.”
The trial didn’t take long. The cops had all the evidence–surveillance footage at my place and witness statements. They had already investigated everything.”
All that was left was the sentencing.
I thought that just slashing my arm wouldn’t get her sentenced for many years.
But my lawyer really slayed it! Helga didn’t just bring up the attempted murder–she tied it back to the kidnapping attempt from before Ten freaking years–that’s how long Vicky would serve in jail.
Just as the judge’s gavel dropped, Vicky suddenly burst out laughing like a maniac.}
She stared at me viciously, her eyes full of hostility.
“Shea, you were reborn too, weren’t you?! You set me up! Bitch! I was supposed to be the CEO’s wife in this life! You ruined everything!“} She looked completely unhinged! It took three officers to restrain her.
My heart jumped at what she said. ‘She… She has been reborn too?‘
Half an hour later, they sent her to a psych hospital for evaluation.
As I watched her being loaded into the ambulance, I noticed a smirk on her lips.
Something felt off, so I immediately contacted June and asked him to keep an eye on Vicky.
An hour later, he sent me a video.
Vicky met with the psychiatrist.}
Her diagnosis? Dissociative identity disorder.}
‘I knew it…‘D
She needed to be hospitalized.”
I looked at the diagnostic report June sent me and let out a cold laugh.
‘A psychiatric hospital isn’t somewhere she can just walk in and out of at will.
Soon, she was locked up.
I actually visited her once.
Even in that place, she still looked smug. “I swear, I’ll kill you, Shea. But too bad–I won’t have to pay for it. After all, mentally ill people don’t get punished for murder, right?“}
I just smiled. “Great. I’ll wait.” And then I turned and walked away.”
Six months later, I went to the hospital again.”
The psycho who manipulated and almost murdered me was sitting blankly on the bed. When she saw me, a flash of familiar hatred quickly crossed her eyes, but she didn’t curse at me. Instead, she calmly watched the nurse change her sheets and give her meds.
Obviously, over the past six months, she had realized she wasn’t getting out anytime soon. And so, she started pretending to be obedient and pitiful.
I suppressed the smile tugging at my lips.”
I turned and walked out of the hospital, thinking, ‘I probably won’t be coming back here again.’0
One year later, I was just minding my own business, scrolling Facebook when I saw her again.
[Newsflash: Mental hospital worker accidentally kills patient]2
Curious, I clicked
When the video opened, I saw two familiar faces.
The “worker–Kurt, the former CEO of Blount & Bluebell Press.
The “patient“-Vicky.
How does a guy go from luxury boardrooms to pushing wheelchairs in a psych ward?‘
I was still processing the news when I heard a knock on the door!
“Ugh. Ever since I was rebom, I really hate people knocking on my door–it never leads to anything good.” “Shea, it’s me*%
Only when I heard the familiar voice did I get up from my desk and open the door
Outside stood my increasingly famous lawyer, and beside her was Brooke, the next CEO of Blount Entertainment.
12:15 PM
“Hey, Helga, what’s up?”
Helga smiled and pointed at Brooke.
