Mauve’s POV
The days felt like they were blending together as I reached the final week of my pregnancy It felt like the moment I had been waiting for was still so far away. I could feel the weight of it all–my growing pups, the tension with the pack, and the law still hanging over us, a constant worry. Everything seemed to be working against us, but here !

I still couldn’t quite believe that my twins, my girls, would soon be here. They felt like little fires within me, kicking
and moving, reminding me of their presence every single day. I would have given anything for Elias to see them–his
daughters–but there was no way I could ever let him know. I couldn’t let him near them. Elias didn’t deserve them,
didn’t deserve me, and especially not the beautiful life we were building with Joshua.

The thought of him brought a small smile to my lips. He had been everything to me in these last three months. He wasn’t just the Alpha of Shadowfang. He was my husband, my partner, and my protector. He had worked tirelessly to bring peace and security to our pack. I admired his leadership with all my heart.
As I stood by the window, watching the sun dip below the horizon, I could feel him before I even heard the sound of the door opening. He had arrived home from another long day of meetings and work with the pack. I could never get enough of seeing him, even after all this time.
I turned just in time to see him enter the room, a tired but warm smile lighting up his face. My heart fluttered, as it always did when I saw him. In these past few months, I had come to rely on him in ways I never thought I would.
“Welcome home, my love,” I said softly, crossing the room to meet him.
Joshua’s arms enveloped me in an instant, pulling me close. “How’s my girl today?” he murmured,
I smiled, my fingers brushing against his chest. “Tired, but good. The pups are restless. I think they’ll be here
soon.”
He looked down at me with a mixture of concern and excitement in his eyes, his fingers gently caressing my belly “Are you feeling okay? Any more pain?”
I shook my head, trying to reassure him. “No, not yet. Just a lot of movement. They’re eager to meet us.” Joshua chuckled, a soft, warm sound that made my heart ache with love “They definitely have your energy, that’s

I laughed, resting my head against his chest. “I hope they get your patience.”
He laughed too, his hands gently cradling my belly as if trying to soothe our pups. “I don’t think anyone could have too much patience with you around. You’re the most stubborn person I know.”
“Stubborn? Me?” I smirked, looking up at him with a playful glint in my eye. “I have no idea what you’re talking
about.”
His smile softened, and he brushed a strand of hair from my face. “I wouldn’t change a thing about you, Mau–Mau You’ve been through so much, and yet you still manage to smile to keep fighting. I’m proud of you.
The sincerity in his voice made my throat tighten, and for a moment, I couldn’t speak. I knew I had to be strong for us, for our pack, but sometimes it all pressed down so heavily that it was hard to breathe. Still, with him by my side, I felt like I could take on anything
“Thank you,” I whispered. You’ve been everything to me, Joshua. I never imagined my life would look like this. But now, it’s perfect”
His eyes softened, and he kissed my forehead again, his hand still resting gently on my belly. “You deserve everything good in this world, Mauve. And I’ll make sure you get it. I’ll make sure our pups have the life they deserve. No one will take that from us.”
His words were a promise, a vow, and I believed him with all my heart.
We settled into the dining table and started to eat. Picking up the fork, he scooped up a bite of food and fed it to me, his eyes never leaving mine. “You have to taste this. I want the pups to grow up knowing what good food tastes like,” he said with a smile.”
“It’s good,” I agreed, savoring the flavors on my tongue. After wiping my mouth with a napkin, I reached for his hand and squeezed it. “By the way, have you gathered enough signatures yet?” I asked.
