Mauve’s POV
I could barely focus through the haze of exhaustion, but I clutched my babies tightly against my chest as Dr. Helen wiped the sweat from my forehead.
“You did great, Luna,” she murmured, trying to offer me a reassuring smile.
A nurse w
whispered urgently, “Dr. Helen, we have to move. The battle outside is getting worse.
Before anyone could respond, a deep, guttural thud resounded against the door, followed by a sinister voice. “Luna Mauve,” the rogue sneered from the other side. “Give us one of the twins. You know it is bad omen to keep two twin girls. Don’t be greedy and selfish. Give her to us, and no harm will come in the future.
A shiver crawled down my spine, but I gritted my teeth and held my babies closer. “The only harm is rooting for those who believe that life is a bad omen!” I hissed. “I will not give any of them. You have to kill me first.”
The rogue chuckled darkly. “Don’t worry about the future life of the girl I am asking for. We will give her a good life. Trust us.”
Dr. Helen touched my shoulder gently but firmly. “We have to go. Now.”
One of the nurses carefully gathered my daughters, wrapping them securely, while I fought the panic rising my chest. We moved into the next room, shutting the door behind us just as the outer door splintered open with a sickening crack
The sound of footsteps echoed through the abandoned delivery room. The rogues had entered.
I could hear them searching, sniffing the air like beasts. “Luna, we don’t have time for games,” the leader called. “Hand me one of the twins, and we will leave. We need to fulfill our task ”
My heart pounded. My daughters whimpered, sensing the fear coursing through me.
The next door rattled violently. Then, with a deafening crash, five massive wolves burst into the room. Their fur
filthy and tangled with dried blood, their eyes glowing. Some yellow, others an eerie red. Their bodies were
was fo
covered in scars and fresh wounds, proof of countless fights. Their sharp, uneven fangs dripped with saliva as they snarled With each step, their cracked, black claws scraped against the floor
Terror gripped me so tightly I could barely breathe Then, Joshua’s voice echoed through the mindlink.
“I’m terribly sorry, Mauve ”
His words hit me like a dagger, confusion and dread twisting together in my chest. Why was he apologizing? What had he done? A sob escaped my lips as my knees nearly buckled beneath me. I couldn’t let this happen.
One of the medical staff tried to fight them off, lunging with a scalpel, but it was useless. A rogue’s fangs clamped down, and a strangled scream echoed before silence fell
I choked back a sob, my body trembling My babies wailed in my arms, their tiny fists curling against my skin. The lead roque advanced. “Hand her over, Luna. ”
I braced myself, my entire being ready to fight until my last breath, but before the rogues could take another step. a blur of black tore through the room like a storm
The next second was a blur of snarls, claws, and blood
The black wolf moved too fast. In just a few heartbeats, the rogues were nothing more than torn flesh and lifeless bodies scattered across the floor.
My own breath came in ragged gasps as I cradled my daughters, struggling to process what had just happened.
Then, the black wolf turned to me. His eyes locked onto mine before his form shifted
Before me stood King Elias.
His face was shadowed with fury as he thundered, “No one dares to hurt my daughters!”
