Chapter 98
“It was still Grayden’s movie premiere. Chantal came to pick me up–she’s such a worrywart. Most people can’t wait to keep their distance from their boss, but she sticks to me like glue.“>
I couldn’t move much, so she quickly unfolded a basic wheelchair and helped me into it.
Then she took my phone, slipping right back into her photographer role. “Miss S, you hired me for a reason. Stop filming stuff yourself, alright?”
The wind picked up a bit, and the sky was a soft, pale gray.
I smiled, trying to calm her down. “Okay, okay. It’s just that you couldn’t get tickets, remember?“}
Outside the venue, fans were still waiting around to catch a glimpse of Grayden after the event. I asked Chantal to wheel me off to the side.
But then–a sharp voice cut through the air like a slap.
“Holy shit, isn’t that her? The gold–digger ex? Shirl Osbourne?”
“No way! That’s really her! I remember her–she used to date Grayden for years until she ran off with some other guy!“}
“She was in his old Insta posts, too!”
A group of girls stormed over, their glares colder than the wind.
“Bitch, how dare you show up here? Got no shame?”
“Trying to get attention again? Clout–chasing his movie now
kept my head down and my lips shut, hoping Chantal would just hurry and push me away.}
But the crowd had already closed in.
Phone cameras zoomed in, flashes blinking nonstop–like they were stripping away what little dignity I had left.
“What’s the act for? He dumped you, so why are you even here?”
ist here
“Heard she’s completely washed now. Probably just here for clout.”
“Stop pretending to be sick in that wheelchair! If you were really that ill, why not just die already?“}
Someone suddenly yanked off my mask. I reached up instinctively to cover my face, but my muscles gave out–and I collapsed sideways off the chair.
Chantal screamed.§
I hit the ground hard. My knee slammed against the pavement. Pain shot through me, my fingers trembled uncontrollably, and my face went numb.
“She’s having an episode–don’t touch her!” Chantal cried.
But the onlookers just stood there like it was entertainment, holding their phones up in silence.
“Is she seriously having a seizure?“}
“Oh my god, gross! Move away!“}
I lay there, making faint choking noises but unable to form a single sentence.
Every muscle in my body felt drained like someone had unplugged me. Even breathing felt like dragging torn fabric through mud. And then–I saw Grayden.
He was sitting in his car, about to get out. He frowned as he looked at our direction.
But the next second, his new manager grabbed his arm.
“Are you crazy, Grayden? Do you realize who you are now? How many reporters are out there? How
He struggled for a second, and then he let himself be pulled back. His face was like ice.
I couldn’t hear what they were saying. I just saw his lips move.
But in the end, he didn’t come toward me.”
From the ground, I watched him straighten his suit inside the car.”
He smiled politely at the fans… like he’d never known me.”
Ten minutes later, Chantal helped me into a nearby car. She was still crying.
many cameras?”
I leaned my cheek against the cold window, and my hands were curled up like some abandoned little creature.
Soon, Chantal’s phone buzzed. She picked it up, and her face turned worse by the second.
“It’s Grayden’s manager.“%
She held the phone near my ear.
“She says you shouldn’t appear around Grayden anymore. ‘You know how important his rising career is right now. Don’t ruin it for him.” I didn’t say anything.
Chantal gritted her teeth. “I didn’t agree. I-”
“Say yes.” My voice was barely a whisper. “Just agree to it.”
(closed my eyes, slumping into the seat like snow slowly melting away.”
