Chapter 9%
Emily grabbed the edge of my clothes with both hands.
Her knuckles turned white as she begged me, saying, “Harriet, I know I was wrong. Everything was my fault before.“}]
“Please, give Richard back to me. We can’t live without him!“}
I was full of frustration and shook her hands off.
Emily almost fell to the ground, but I didn’t look back. Instead, I just chose to walk away Suddenly, I heard a car horn nearby.}
When I turned, I could see Dominic.
“Get in the car,” he said.”
Richard ran over quickly.
“Harriet, don’t go with him!” he shouted.
But I opened the door and got in without hesitation. I opened the car door. As soon as I entered the car, the engine roared as we sped off.
In the rearview mirror, I watched Richard’s figure grow smaller and smaller until it disappeared.
“Where are we going?” Dominic asked.}
Yet, I didn’t answer. Everything was actually overwhelming me. I just wanted to get out.”
“Want to take a flight?” he asked again, seemingly understanding my mind.
I nodded silently.”
My mind was a mess. I didn’t want to talk at all. Not long after that, we arrived at the flying club.
Dominic came with me and I got into a plane to practice flying. Just as I was focusing, I heard a sharp noise pass by my ear. Another plane flew close to us.
When I looked over, I couldn’t help but feel surprised. It turned out that Richard was in the pilot’s seat in the other plane. There was a strong, serious look in his eyes. I could tell he wanted to compete with Dominic.
Dominic seemed to notice this as well because he then decided to join the race. The race in the sky then began. It was exciting.}
After a tense and fast competition, Richard won by just a little. His plane landed first, steady and smooth. As for Dominic and me, we landed right after him.
Thinking that he had won over me after the race in the sky, Richard opened the cabin door right away and rushed toward me. There were beads of sweat on his forehead. It was as if he had run a marathon.
Unfortunately, it was all useless. After all, I had already made up my mind. I would never go back on it.
“Harriet, you can do whatever you want,” he said.”
“Fiying or anything else. As long as you come back with me, I won’t stop you. Please… give me another chance.“}
I didn’t hesitate when I responded, “Richard, there’s no going back. Don’t come looking for me again.“}
After that, I turned and walked away. Richard followed behind me. As we reached the club’s entrance, I saw Emily and her son, Bryan, waiting for Richard.
When I looked at them, I almost wanted to vomit. There was no me anymore in this family. Only them.
Emily kept looking inside the club. Her face was full of worry and hope as she waited for Richard. Just then, a car came speeding toward
them.&
The tires screeched loudly as it hit the brakes. Both Richard and I were too far away to help in time. Obviously, the car was going to hit Emily and her son.
But what Emily did next shocked me.”
Emily pushed Bryan aside and ran away alone. She stumbled a little but quickly got out of danger. Still breathing hard, she then turned around. Only to realize that both Richard and I had seen everything.
Richard stared at her, eyes full of shock and disbelief. His anger exploded. Finally, he realized that he was being tricked.
The veins in his neck stood out as he yelled, “Emily! How dare you! You’ve been lying to me this whole time! Tell me the truth… what’s going on here?“}}
Emily panicked!
Her eyes darted around as she quickly made excuses, saying, “Richard, I … I didn’t mean it. I just reacted without thinking. I was scared My leg. it’s been healed for a long time. I didn’t tell you because I was afraid you wouldn’t want me and Bryan anymore.“} But Richard wasn’t listening anymore. He turned and walked away.
At that moment, the driver of the car got out. I was surprised to see that it was Dominic. However, he then let out a calm yet mysterious smile as he slowly walked over.
“I helped you a lot today, Mr. Ford. Don’t you think you should thank me? If it weren’t for me, you’d still be fooled,” he said in a sarcastic
tone
Richard’s face darkened. His teeth clenched, but he didn’t say a word. After all, that was the truth.
No one could deny that
