Chapter 13

Olivia was right. Autumn was none other than Sun, the underground racer who had disappeared for years

After her mom’s accident, Autumn was overwhelmed by grief and sought solace in extreme sports

Only when her body was pushed to its limits by sheer velocity did her mind finally go quietthere was no negativity, no distractions. In those fleeting moments, she existed wholly in the now, her heart thundering from the surge of adrenaline

Racing was just one of the many extreme sports she experimented with

Autumn only raced to vent her emotions. She never intended to compete professionally or step into the spotlight. That was why she chose to race in the shadows of the underground circuits, where her identity could remain hidden

But maybe she truly had a talent for it. She picked it up quickly, and after only a few races, she had gained a devoted underground following

Then, in one race, she unexpectedly shattered a record held by a professional racing league

As word spread, more and more people came to know the name Sun,and her fanbase quickly grew

That was probably when Britney first heard of her

But Autumn never raced for fame. The more people recognized her, the less interested she became. Eventually, she moved on to other extreme sports

Still, she never forgot the thrill of being completely consumed by speed on the racetrack

However, that was all in the past now

Autumn reminded her, I’ve retired. Don’t go around telling people about it.”

If I did, what are you going to do about it?”

Olivia could be a real tease sometimes, and Autumn knew her well. Go ahead and talk. No one would believe you anyway. And even if they did, I’m not stepping back onto the racetrack.”

Others might have admired her for racing. But for Autumn, it was nothing more than a trivial skill, barely even a hobby

Olivia stopped teasing and took a serious moment to truly study her

Autumn was undoubtedly the most strikingly beautiful woman Olivia had ever seen

People often describe women as gentle or delicate, like flowers

But Autumn, in the lab, was something else entirely. Her looks and presence were sharp and cool, with a steely elegance that made heads turn and eyes lock up in awe

In today’s terms, Autumn had the kind of face that screamed intelligent beauty

She was the type who made both men and women want to call her their wife at first sight

Because she wasn’t just beautifulshe was effortlessly cool

When Olivia first met Autumn, she was instantly drawn to her striking looks and fiercely commanding presence

She took the initiative to reach out, and that was how they became close friends, though at the start, Olivia was totally a şimp

Back then, Autumn was bold and fierce, tearing across the racetrack at breakneck speedanyone who watched her would feel their blood ignite with passion

She was someone who truly shone brilliantly, a star impossible to ignore

So, it didn’t surprise Olivia at all that someone like Britney, who chased freedom and thrills, would be drawn to Autumn on the racetrack

But three years of marriage had worn Autumn down beyond recognition

Olivia couldn’t help but sigh. Honestly? If someone told me right now that you were the legendary Sun who once ruled the underground scene, I’d say no way.”

Then, she looped her arm through Autumn’s and added, But even if you’re not Sun, I’m already hopelessly obsessed. The moment I laid eyes on you, I was a goner,”

Autumn knew Olivia was just trying to cheer her up. Don’t worry. Whatever Britney says, I won’t take it to heart.”

She used to be affected by Britney because she loved Damien. Naturally, she’d hoped the people around him would like her too

But now that she had given up on Damien, Britney mattered even less

Olivia huffed. So what if I’m trying to cheer you up?”

Autumn gave a helpless smile. Fine, go ahead and cheer me up.”

If I don’t get you in a good mood, and you end up offending the big shot and throwing me under the bus- I wouldn’t be able to handle that!”

Autumn was left speechless

After that, Olivia contacted her elementary school classmate

Not long after, the person arrived

Jamie was handsome. He stood at 6’1and had a commanding yet graceful posture. His welltailored suit added to his polished appearance

While formal attire often created an impression of sharpness and aloofness, Jamie exuded the oppositerefreshing warmth, like a gentle spring breeze. This instantly revealed his kind and approachable nature

Autumn’s first impression of him was unmistakable: an elite

Jamie, over here!Olivia called out, waving

Jamie smiled as he approached. Long time no see, desk buddy.”

His gaze then shifted to Autumn, and he politely greeted her. Hello, Autumn. I’m Jamie Lawson.”

It seemed Olivia had already given him a headsup

Autumn responded with a slight nod

With Olivia around, Autumn didn’t have to engage with Jamie. She simply stayed quietly to the side, listening to their conversation

If Olivia hadn’t mentioned it, Autumn never would have guessed they hadn’t been in touch for over a decade

Both were naturally outgoingthe kind of people others called social butterflies

Jamie pointed toward a VVVIP suite ahead. Let me take you inside.”

The three of them walked in together

The suite was much larger than the standard VIP’s and far more luxuriously decorated. It was equipped with various entertainment facilities, perfect for passing the time if the race grew dull

Autumn glanced around. There was a long black leather sofa, with a few people seated- -some older, some younger. The viewing platform was already quite crowded

Of course, Autumn didn’t recognize any of them

This private gathering was far less lively and bustling than an official social event. Autumn and Olivia’s sudden arrival didn’t call for formal introductions one by one

Olivia had a clear objective. While the big shots here might be casually watching the race, for her, the real purpose was to connect with a few influential figures and expand her circle

Jamie understood this perfectly. Olivia didn’t bother with formalities and kept him by her side the entire time, having him accompany them and introduce anyone unfamiliar

Jamie gladly embraced his new role as the chivalrous escort to two beautiful women

After all, he was the one who had invited them, so it was only right that he sawit through. Besides, Olivia was just as fun and charming as she had been back in the day

As for Autumn, Jamie had encountered many beautiful women before, but her appearance still took him by surprise. That aloof, cool aura she carried was especially rare

She was the kind of ice queenthat guys admired from a distance but instinctively felt too intimidated to confess to

Just then, someone announded that the race was starting. A large screen was broadcasting the event, and the crowd swarmed toward the viewing platform

Fortunately, the platform was spacious enough to hold everyone comfortably and was even equipped with binoculars

Jamie had just introduced Olivia to Howard Sanders, the richest man in Havenmoor, when the race kicked off. Without wasting a moment, he hurriedly guided them to where his boss was seated

Autumn and Olivia had noticed that corner of the suite earlier, but it had been surrounded by people, making it impossible to see who was there

This had to be the mysterious wealthy man of the Clerestia elite circle

As Jamie approached, the crowd around the man gradually dispersed

Soon, Autumn caught sight of his back

Sometimes, a mere silhouette was enough to reveal someone’s extraordinary nature. Even without seeing his face, his presence made those nearby instinctively tense up

Yet, Autumn was suddenly struck by a strange thoughtthere was something oddly familiar about that tall, imposing figure

Still confused, she heard Jamie call out, Mr. Faulkner.”

In the next moment, the man turned around
