Chapter 7
Aaron had originally intended to chase after Ava, but now, he was being forced by his father. His gaze grew colder, and his throat tightened.
“If it weren’t for Ava complaining to you, if you hadn’t acted on her behalf, causing Ellie to use a blade tainted with vampire poison to take her own life, how could she have gone to donate blood? You’ve controlled me all my life, never allowing me a single mistake, but why is it that when it comes to the person I love, when it comes to choosing my mate, I can’t even make that decision myself?”
The Alpha paused, his eyes darkening.
Luna Grace, who had remained silent up to that point, let out a bitter laugh.
“Aaron, are you really going to say you don’t love Ava? If you didn’t love her, would you keep risking your life, saving her again and again?”
Aaron’s lips parted, but no sound came out.
Since coming of age, he had not found his mate, which is why he had planned for the woman he loved to become his Luna.
But that woman couldn’t be Ava.
It wasn’t until Luna Grace’s question that he realized why it couldn’t be Ava.
He loved Ava, loved her so deeply that he would give his life for her.
But they had pushed him so hard that he didn’t want to follow their will. He wanted to make his own decisions.
And in doing so, he had ignored just how much he truly loved Ava.
Luna Grace continued.
“Ava came to say goodbye to us yesterday. That kind–hearted, pitiful child…her only wish before she left was for you to live a good life.”
Aaron suddenly recalled Ava’s farewell words from yesterday. His expression stiffened, and he stood frozen for a moment before speaking.
“If she truly came to say goodbye, then why did she ask Alpha King for the bond–sealing deal?”
Luna Grace sighed deeply, her tone tinged with regret.
“Take a good look at what’s written on that bond–sealing deal.”
Aaron’s mind went blank as he pulled the bond–sealing deal from his pocket.
The next moment, as he saw what was written on the document, his body stiffened as if struck by lightning. He stood frozen, his whole body trembling.
There, written in Ava’s handwriting, was not Ava’s name, but Ellie Rowen.
Aaron suddenly remembered the bitter smile Ava had shown yesterday.
She had said she wanted to help him with Ellie.
Luna Grace gently patted his shoulder.
“Aaron… do you really believe Ellie tried to kill herself? She seduced another Alpha–his Luna discovered it. So she latched onto you for protection. When that Luna thought you’d bond with Ava and abandon Ellie… she gave her that poisoned blade as punishment. Ava was never part of this.”
A sickening ache twisted in Aaron’s chest.
Soon, the Alpha’s Luna and Ellie were brought to the packhouse.
Terrified, Luna Lily immediately recalled how he had used his future Luna’s blood to save Ellie’s life the day before, and, in fear, she immediately
confessed.
“Alpha, I was wrong! I didn’t know Ellie was your beloved! I forced the blade on her after she seduced my mate—but please, spare me!”
Aaron’s expression went blank for a moment, as though something had shattered inside him. He looked at Ellie and spoke harshly.
“What did you say to me before you fainted yesterday?”
