Chapter 7
After finishing the meal, Catherine left, and Dayton suggested to drive her and Jaelyn home.
Perhaps after the last co–pilot dispute, Dayton learned his lesson and decided to simply use the family’s extended Rolls–Royce this time. The car was driven by a chauffeur, so naturally he wouldn’t sit in the co–pilot seat again.
The car drove smoothly towards the direction of the Sellers‘ villa, with no obstacles along the way. No one had expected that an accident would occur at this moment. A runaway truck came speeding from the opposite direction…
The driver instinctively jerked the steering wheel, only to hear a loud “bang“, and the two cars still collided unavoidably!
When the car window shattered, Catherine, due to inertia, fell towards the other side and happened to see Dayton securely holding Jaelyn in his arms. Not only did he prevent her from getting hurt, but he also gently patted her back, soothing her emotions.
Catherine’s consciousness started to blur, and suddenly she remembered the car accident that her best friends had just mentioned.
Back then, it was their fourth year together, and his feelings for her were at their strongest.
It was also a crossroad, and it was a truck that came rushing towards us.
Her direction happened to be the same direction that the truck came from. In a moment of panic, he realized that he couldn’t avoid the truck and had no choice but to forcefully turn around, facing the truck head–on.
The front of the car was dented, and he was stuck tightly in the driver’s seat. The firefighters and doctors worked together to rescue him for a long time before finally getting him out of the car.
He almost died that day, but even so, when he woke up and escaped the danger, the first thing he said was to inquire about her safety.
Now, the same car accident, but the difference is that the person he instinctively protected is no longer himself.
The extended tail of the Rolls–Royce was so badly damaged from the collision that it was unbearable to look at. It wasn’t until several people got out of the car and Dayton, who had been comforting Jaelyn’s emotions, finally saw Catherine, who was silently holding her bleeding forehead. Fortunately, her injuries were not severe, and after being bandaged at the hospital, she had no further issues.
Just because the injury was to the head, the doctor still advised to stay in the hospital for two days for observation.
Dayton looked at the bandage on her head, feeling guilty. “Catherine, I’m sorry. I was just thinking about collaborating with Jaelyn in the near future, and her face couldn’t be injured. That’s why I protected her. I accept if you hit me or scold me, just please don’t ignore me, okay?”
His attitude of admitting his mistake was extremely sincere, and his reasons seemed acceptable, if Catherine hadn’t remembered their wedding, which was less than half a month away.
It is likely that what he said was the collaboration, which was the wedding.

She hung her head and said nothing, neither refusing to forgive nor granting forgiveness, maintaining the same calm expression throughout. Dayton’s apologies haven’t stopped, he kept saying sorry, and suddenly, as if remembering something, a hopeful gleam flashed in his eyes. “Your birthday is coming up in a few days, can I give you the gift in advance? What birthday present do you want? I’ll buy it for you.”
Upon hearing this, she finally looked up at him, her eyes devoid of any emotion, and said, “Then buy me a plane ticket, three days later, to Ridgedale.” “What are you going to do in Ridgedale?” he was a bit surprised, but quickly, he came up with the answer himself, “Do you want to go sightseeing?” Catherine did not explain, she nodded and just made a sound of agreement.
Dayton didn’t ask any more questions and immediately opened his phone in front of her to purchase a plane ticket to Ridgedale.
After buying the ticket, he said, “I have something to do during this time and I don’t have time to accompany you. You can go to Ridgedale first and when
I have time, I will accompany you on a trip. Buying a plane ticket as a birthday gift is too small, I will give you a big surprise later.”
Catherine shook her head and chuckled softly, “Not small, not even a bit.”
After all, this plane ticket was her way back home.
Dayton, thank you for the gift, you personally handed it to me and brought me home.
