At that moment, Clive nearly tore the hospital room apart.
He was furious–furious at the doctors for not informing him earlier, furious at me for keeping him in the dark.
But I never hid my illness. My medical records had been sitting on the desk this whole time. If he ever came
home, he would’ve seen them.
I heard he had assembled top medical teams, hired countless specialists, and spared no effort or expens find a cure for me. During the day, he discussed treatment plans with doctors, and at night, he buried himself in research, desperate to buy me more time.
But illness didn’t care about money. Some things just couldn’t be fixed.
Still, Clive refused to accept that. He clung to the belief that there was still hope.
I was dozing off in the sun when the sudden noise jolted me awake.
“Excuse me, are you Mrs. King from NeoXtreme? Courtney Russell?”
Clive had left early that morning, saying he was heading to a nearby city to meet with a renowned specialist. Blinking against the light, I realized I was surrounded by a crowd of reporters, cameras flashing non–stop. The

commotion had even knocked over a nurse trying to reach me.
“Courtney, is it true you married Clive for money? Do you regret it now?”

“Miss Russell, sources say your husband is divorcing you for Tamara. Since the one who’s not been loved is the mistress, do you admit to being the third party in your own marriage?”
I recognized the reporter who asked that–one of Tamara’s die–hard fans.
I met her gaze and smirked. “Which news agency are you from? Are you saying Tamara is the homewrecker?”
The reporter hesitated, panic flashing in her eyes as she struggled for a response. Before she could speak, a woman’s voice rang out.
“Everyone, please listen,” Tamara said smoothly, stepping forward in a striking red dress, oozing confidence. “Mrs. King is someone I deeply respect. All of these rumors are completely unfounded.”
A journalist turned to her eagerly. “Miss Mcgee, is it true that you’re President King’s true love?”
“I only know that I came here today to visit Courtney,” she said, her voice full of concern. “She’s sick right now, so
I hope everyone will be considerate and not say anything that might stress her.”
From a few feet away, Darren White, calm as ever, pulled out his phone, switched on the livestream, and aimed the camera directly at Tamara.
“That’s right, everyone,” he said, his tone dripping with sarcasm. “Let’s not get in the way of our rising star, Tamara Macgee–personally breaking up a marriage just to ‘comfort‘ the wife.”
Tamara hadn’t expected anyone to stand up for me. Her face darkened with anger. “What are you trying to say?
I’m the brand ambassador for NeoXtreme!”
Ah, so she was here to promote the company, not to show off.
Darren chuckled and turned the camera toward her. “Come on, everyone, let’s get a good look at this shameless homewrecker. The one and only Tamara Mcgee–stealing another woman’s husband!”
The scene unfolding before me was nothing short of satisfying.
And then, as the camera turned to me, I let out a sudden, shaky breath. Tears welled up in my eyes.
“Clive and I grew up together… We loved each other…” I whispered, my voice breaking as I clutched my chest. “I never thought-”
I then pressed a hand over my mouth, forcing a coughing fit.
As such, the livestream chat exploded.
[This woman is disgusting. She thinks being younger gives her the right to bully a sick woman?]
[She always plays innocent victims in dramas, but in real life, she’s manipulative as hell!]
[Unfollowing her now. I can’t believe I used to be a fan of this homewrecking influencer.]
[She’s not even a real actress. Just another talentless–reality–show–reject.]
Tamara’s face couldn’t be described as the whispers around her grew louder. Her expression was pure venom
as she glared at me.
“Courtney! You set this up, didn’t you? You asked to see me!”
Same old trick, Tamara. You never came up with anything new.
But this time, I wasn’t alone.
Darren gave me a subtle nod before turning back to Tamara, eyes gleaming with righteous fury.
