Chapter 16
Callum stood at the forefront, staring at Nadia on stage with a burning gaze. His heart started fluttering uncontrollably.
He had never known that Nadia played the piano.
She was able to play without looking at the keys at all. International experts might not even be able to play as well as her, and their playing might not even be as deeply moving as hers. There was no doubt she was a genius in music.
Callum felt like she had gotten to know Nadia all over again.
The woman who was once ignored and belittled by him was actually so dazzling.
Samuel’s gaze was burning as well. It had been years since he last heard her playing the piano.
After the song ended, Nadia gradually opened her eyes. Her long lashes fluttered gently, and they were so beautiful that they took everybody’s breath away.
The entire hall was silent. Everybody was still engrossed in the voice and the sound of the piano earlier, unable to regain their senses for a long time.
Suddenly, the room erupted in applause, and all types of compliments echoed through the hall.
Marianne had tears in her eyes. She walked up to Nadia and said emotionally in Falverian, “You played so well! Thank you for helping me complete my performance.”
Nadia simply smiled.
Marianne took Nadia’s hand, and they walked off the stage together to accept the cheers and applause from the crowd.
Right at that moment, Marianne’s husband, Barry Bardet, and Callum walked up to them.
Barry said to Nadia in Falverian, “Thank you so much for helping my wife.”
Just as Callum was about to translate for Nadia, she replied in fluent Falverian, “Don’t mention it, Mr. Bardet. I love Marianne’s songs very much. It’s my honor to
be able to perform with her.”
Nadia…
Callum gulped.
He looked at Nadia in front of him as she spoke in fluent Falverian with a unique lilt.
He was surprised she knew Falverian. Also, she addressed Barry as soon as she met him. Clearly, she knew that Barry was the Falverian ambassador and was very
important to Ford Group.
How many more secrets did he not know about her?
She was like a forbidden book with a luxurious cover. Callum knew he might be in deep trouble if he opened the book, but he could not help but feel the urge to get
to the bottom of it.
She was so irresistibly attractive!
Marianne hugged Nadia and said with great gratitude, “Thank you so much, dear. I hope you can come to Falveria in the future and let me show you a good time
there.”
Nadia replied with a calm smile, “I’ll certainly get a chance in the future. I like Falveria very much.”
Barry suddenly asked, “Callum, is this beautiful lady your future wife?”
Callum wanted to reply when an icy voice said, “She’s my plus one, Mr. Bardet. She’s Ms. Grayson.”
Samuel walked over at the perfect time, and he wrapped his arm gently around Nadia’s shoulders.
Callum feit like he had been checkinated when the victory was already in sight.
Brittany suddenly walked over and grabbed his arm before she said, “Let’s go to the deck to watch the fireworks, Callum.”
Seeing that Barry and Samuel were chatting happily, Brittany and Callum left the
group.
Soon, a boom sounded in the sky.
The fireworks show started, and the guests slowly moved toward the outdoors.
Loud bangs echoed through the night sky. The brilliant fireworks exploded in the air, creating huge colorful clouds. There were orange, red, purple, and gold. Countless specks of light had long tails. They intertwined and exploded, lighting up the surface of the ocean. It seemed just like a dream.
The vessel in charge of lighting the fireworks was about four miles away from Starborne. That was the perfect distance, as it could stay away from the hustle and bustle of the main ship, and the entire dazzling explosion of colors could still be seen on the vessel, too.
It was just like appreciating a radiant moving picture.
“Wow! It’s so beautiful!”
“Quick! Snap a photo! This angle is perfect!”
One by one, the guests raised their phones, and bursts of shutters could be heard as they tried to freeze the extremely romantic and luxurious moment
The drones from Ford Group were hovering quietly in the air like faithful eyes in the skies, recording the grand and beautiful moment from all angles.
Brittany was acting like a peacock that finally got to spread its tail feathers, and she practically melted in Calum’s sturdy arms.
She looked up, and the twinkle in her eyes was even brighter than the fireworks. It was a complicated mix of excitement, infatuation, and a sense of fulfillment from getting what she wanted.

“Callum, look! It’s so beautiful!” she deliberately said in an alluring and trembling voice,
It so happened that a waiter walked past with a tray at that time. Brittany quickly grabbed two glasses of champagne from him. She handed a place to allum and stared at him with a burning gaze.
She took a deep breath and said with great sincerity, “Callum, I was too foolish in the past. I just didn’t know better. I left you for for my bullshit career when you were going through the toughest time and needed someone to be by your side the most.”
She paused as if she was thinking about what to say but also as if she was thinking back on her shameful past.
“Actually, I thought I only had the right and the capability to come back and help you instead of being your burden if I became strong enough and climbed high enough,” she added.
Tears welled up in her eyes, and there was a catch in her throat as she continued, “Fortunately, I’m still blessed. The person who could stand next to you today is still me.”
Callum looked at her with a faint smile. The affection in his eyes was as deep as ever,
“I don’t blame you. As long as you be good, you can have everything you want,” he said.
Everything? Brittany instantly felt overjoyed.
Was that considered a promise from him?
She wanted to give herself to him that night on that romantic sea.
She raised her glass with a firm gaze and anticipation and said, “Callum, to us being together forever,”
The clink of their glasses sounded extraordinarily clear while the fireworks went off in the background. Both of them looked up at the same time and knocked back the champagne in one go.
Brittany put down her glass and leaned on Callum with satisfaction once again. It was as if she wanted to completely ingrain herself in his life.
Right at that moment, Calum’s phone in his pocket suddenly vibrated. He frowned and glanced at the incoming call. Then, he said to Brittany, “I’ll be right back.”
He then turned and walked toward a quieter corner of the ship.
It was Julian on the other end of the phone, and he was speaking very quickly, reporting to Callum about something.
Callum listened in silence, but his gaze turned icy.
He stood in place after he hung up the call and scanned the crowd on the deck with his sharp gaze.
Wendy was chatting happily with a few young women in the near distance. And Knox was holding a glass, chatting softly with another young lady in the corner. However, Nadia was nowhere to be found. She, who could easily affect his emotions, had completely vanished at that moment.
Something was not right. Samuel was nowhere to be found as well.
The two of them…..
A thought popped into Callum’s mind incessantly.
Where were they? Could they be hiding in an inconspicuous corner for a secret date while the deck was abuzz?
