Chapter 30
Julian clearly remembered Nadia still seated in there when he stepped out.
Wait could she have seen Brittany and decided to hide?
A cold sweat formed along his hairline.
This was bad.
If god forbid Brittany and Callum did anything in here… wouldn’t Nadia be catching them red–handed?
Seriously, what a mess.
What about the agreement? Would this whole thing blow up?
No. He had to warn Callum.
Julian steadied himself and forced on a calm expression as he stepped forward. “Mr. Ford, your 10:00 am appointment with Ms. Grayson is almost here,”
He put extra weight on the name Ms. Grayson.
Brittany immediately pouted, reaching for the coffee in Julian’s hand. “Is that for me? Mr. Lowe, you’re finally showing some taste,”
She shot Julian a smug look, as if the coffee had always belonged to her.
Julian said nothing.
The coffee was for Nadia,
Brittany took a sip and instantly scrunched her face in disgust. “Ugh! No sugar, no cream
Julian held his silence again.
It was because Mrs. Ford didn’t like sugar or cream.
how is anyone supposed to drink this? It’s so bitter!”
“I’ll make another one for you, Ms. Jaeger,” he said carefully, but before he could furn, Callum looked up from his laptop and glanced at Julian.
It was subtle, but it was enough to shut him up instantly.
Then, Callum spoke up calmly. “Ilave someone go down to the bakery across the street. Get Brittany the macarons and cake she likes. She skipped breakfast,”
He completely ignored Julian’s mention of 10:00 am and Ms. Grayson.
“You’re the best, Callum!” Brittany beamed.
She leaned in and gave him a loud, exaggerated kiss on the cheek.
Julian might as well have been invisible.
Then, like she owned the place, Brittany casually lowered herself onto Callum’s lap and wrapped her arms around his neck.
“Callum, now that the trending posts have been wiped, I feel so much better. Thank you! I seriously wouldn’t have made it through this without you!”
Juilan’s eyelids twitched violently as he kept shooting warning looks at Callum.
He screamed internally at Callum. Nadia might be watching!
Callum picked up on the signal. He gave Julian a bland glance, his tone calm as ever. “If the guest arrives, take her straight to Conference Room Three.”
Gjest
Not Me. Grayson, but just a guest.
The message couldn’t be clearer–Nadia didn’t need to come into his office. Or rather… she didn’t belong here right now.
Julian’s heart sank. He understood.
Callum was clearing the room, or more precisely, he was drawing a line.
Behind the hidden door, Nadia stood completely still, her face blank.
Guest.
Her fingers gripped the doorframe so tightly they turned white.
So that was what she was to him now. A guest, to be taken to a conference room,
Meanwhile, that woman got to sit openly on his lap, soaking in his attention and indulgence.
The name she had just signed on the divorce papers still burned in her hand like it was on fire, the paper suddenly heavy and scalding.
the watched the two of them cling to each other, the way Callum looked at Brittany with a softness and ease she had never once seen from him.
Berhear froze. Gone was all the hope she hadn’t even realized she was still clinging to. Just cold, distant silence.
Julian didn’t dare say another word. He gave a quiet “Yes, sir” and turned to leave quickly.
“Ah!”
Brittany let out a startled scream. She had knocked over the coffee cup, and the liquid splashed out, landing squarely on Callum’s expensive shirt and soaking through the fabric in a dark stain.
Hér tace went pale, her voice trembling with pante.
