Chapter 5
Rather than saying I was following up on the project, it felt more like I was running errands for Randell.
These past few days, most of my time had been spent ordering meals from a five–star hotel for him while also getting one for myself.
However, I saved those gourmet meals, bringing them home for Alistair each night.
Unfortunately, Randell soon discovered my little secret.
He laughed at my thriftiness but still insisted I order an extra meal for Alistair.

So, I never held any resentment towards
him.
After all, Randell had always been
kind–hearted.
But because of this, I feared that the
peace I had finally found would once
again be disturbed by him.
“Mr. Deleon, you’re not trying to woo me, are you?”
“Isn’t Lesly your official girlfriend?”
Randell pressed his lips together, staring at me intently.
He quickly reverted to his usual
nonchalant demeanor and smiled.

“Who told you Lesly is my girlfriend? We’re just friends.”

Even though I knew I shouldn’t let myself feel anything, a sense of relief washed over me upon hearing they weren’t a couple.
“Why do you order meals for me every day?”
Randell chuckled at my question.
But I was being sincere, leaving him momentarily speechless.
As the atmosphere became tense, Donovan knocked on the door.
He came to remind me about dinner with

the Deleon Group, telling me not to
forget.
Randell found a logical explanation for my question.
He traced the outline of my collarbone with his fingers.

“If I don’t fatten you up a bit, how will you keep up with the drinks tonight?”
Two executives from the Deleon Group arrived, each accompanied by two subordinates.
They had no idea about my past with Randell.
Women in the workplace were always at a
disadvantage.
Chapter 5
I knew this all too well.
After two years at the company, I had never left before four.

I earned three thousand dollars less than my colleagues while doing twice the work.
This was the arrangement I had with my boss.
But Randell threatened me.
He sent someone to pick up Alistair.
He said if I didn’t want anything to happen to Alistair, it was best that I listened to him.
Alistair was my sole support, the only

reason I had held on this far.
So, I couldn’t refuse him.
6/12
During dinner, the two executives leered at me, their gazes openly assessing.
Randell said nothing, simply sat at the head of the table, looking down at
everyone.
As the appetizers were served, Donovan elbowed me.
“Go pour drinks for the leaders!”
Suddenly, a pair of thick hands landed on my wrist.
“This hand is so soft,” one of the men
remarked.
Chapter 5
I felt my face flush with anger, wanting
nothing more than to smash the bottle over the man’s head.
“Mr. Olson, are you that thirsty?”
Randell’s voice cut through the air.
One of the executives, Langston Olson, chuckled awkwardly and released my hand.
7/12
The dinner was ostensibly for business, but the others at the table didn’t mention work at all; they just kept urging me to drink.
Randell appeared like a bystander, merely watching coldly.

After finishing eight ounces of wine, I reached my limit.
I rushed into the restroom and began to
throw up.

My stomach and throat burned painfully.
I felt lightheaded, struggling to stand up from the floor.
I heard footsteps approaching.
Thinking it was Donovan, I waved my hand behind me.
“I’m fine, I can still drink.”
“Eleanore!”
I turned around abruptly.
Chapter 5
Randell had grabbed my arm, lifting me off the ground.
My legs felt weak, and I leaned against him, relying on his support to keep my unsteady body upright.
9/12
I knew Randell had a cleanliness obsession, yet he merely looked at the smudge on my lips, showing no sign of discomfort, as he took out a tissue to wipe my mouth gently.
I would have preferred it if he acted like a stranger again, maybe even a little harsher.
But his gentleness overwhelmed me.
I clutched Randell’s shirt.
Chapter 5
“You bad guy…”
Randell sighed, stroking my forehead.
“I’m a bad guy, a bad guy.‘
་་
I couldn’t control my tears any longer.
I thought, “Randell, please don’t be so kind to me.”
My tears soaked through his shirt.
Randell froze.
“Why are you crying?”
His question only made me sob harder.
“Why did you force me to drink? If you

hate me, just say it, Randell!”
I flailed my arms in frustration.
The commotion drew the executives‘
attention.
Their reaction infuriated Randell.
“Who was it that forced her to drink earlier?”
They exchanged glances, none daring to speak.
11/12
My stomach was already upset, and after all that drinking, I felt a sharp pain.
I bit my lip hard, my body swaying unsteadily.
Chapter 5
“What’s happened?”
I said through my tears, “My stomach hurts so much.”
Randell, furious, marched over to
Langston.

He grabbed Langston’s hair and yanked it back, forcing a bottle of liquor into his mouth.
Watching Langston’s face turn red as he struggled in pain, Randell finally released his grip.
