Chapter 14
In the pitch–black night, Jovan lay on the floor of Sarahi’s room, and in a daze, it seemed as if he saw Sarahi again.
In the world after death, the system was playing Jovan’s footage in front of Sarahi.
“Would you like to go back and take a look?” the system asked.
Sarahi hesitated and appeared by Jovan’s side in the form of a soul.
As if sensing something, Jovan looked around.
“Sarahi, have you come back?”
Sarahi did not respond.
In fact, even though she is speaking now, Jovan cannot hear.
She just looked at him with some confusion, not understanding why he reacted so strongly.
She thought that after she died, Jovan would at most feel a bit lost. With Denisse’s presence, he should quickly forget everything and be by Denisse’s side.
But during these three days, he spent very little time with Denisse.
The system asked her, “Host, now his liking for you has reached one hundred percent. As long as you appear in front of him, the task can be completed immediately. Do you still want to change the task target?”
In the darkness, Jovan whispered, “I regretted…”
He laughed self–deprecatingly, his voice breaking, “I regretted it, really regretted it. Will you come back?”
The only response to him was silence.
After a while, Sarahi spoke, “Change.”
She could no longer trust Jovan.
Moreover, the inflicted wounds do not disappear, nor does the pain in the heart. So why should Jovan be forgiven?
A white light flashed, and Sarahi knew that she was about to bring forth new life.
She closed her eyes without any nostalgia.
It wasn’t until the next day that Jovan finally woke up in a daze. Ernesto, with red eyes, sat in the living room and asked, “Hasn’t mom come back yet?”
Even though he was precocious, he was still just a seven–year–old child.
From: the initial indifference, to anger, and then to sadness, Ernesto choked and asked, “Does Mom not want me, not want Dad anymore?”
Jovan’s heart felt as if it had been firmly grasped by someone.
He whispered, “I don’t know.”
The voice was so low, so soft, so lacking in confidence.
Arriving at the hospital, Jovan once again went to the morgue, which was the only thing he could hold onto.
After entering, I realized that it was empty inside.
Jovan went crazy and loudly demanded, “Where are the people? Where did Sarahi go?”
The young nurse was frightened and tremblingly said, “He…he has already been taken away by the relatives. They said they are taking him to the funeral home for cremation. He was just taken away.”
Jovan suddenly ran out as if he had gone mad.
Denisse came over and tried to grab him, but she was pulled down and fell.
“Jovan!”
Denisse shouted and tears streamed down her face.
Jovan’s footsteps paused for a moment as he saw Denisse lying on the ground, looking conflicted and in pain.
“Jovan, what happened to you?” Denisse asked, choking back tears.

Jovan hesitated for a long time, but in the end, he turned around and left.
When I arrived at the hospital entrance, my best friend was there with the staff from the funeral home, putting Sarahi’s body into the car.
Jovan suddenly rushed over, pushing everyone away and shouting, “Get out of here! Who allowed you to touch her?”
Aubrie glared at him with red eyes.
“Sara is already dead, do you still want to deny her peace?”
Jovan’s body trembled.
Then he shook his head again, “No, she didn’t, she will come back.”
He didn’t know how to find Sarahi back, so he could only deceive himself and think that keeping her body might lead to a miracle someday.
Aubrie couldn’t help it and slapped him hard.
“What qualifications do you have to say such things?”
“Why is Sara lying here? Isn’t it because of you?”
“What are you pretending now?”
