Chapter 13
Although Dylan had been in charge of coordinating their wedding for the most part, Cheryl was still exhausted by the end of the night.
After freshening up, she got into bed, feeling nervous about their first night together as a wedded couple.
When Dylan emerged from the shower, his eyes roamed hungrily over Cheryl, whose pale skin contrasted enticingly with the crimson sheets of their bed.
Cheryl had a long list of questions for him. However, this clearly wasn’t the time to ask them.
“T–turn off the lights,” Cheryl stuttered.
Dylan hummed in assent.
Leaving a warm bedside lamp on, he leaned forward and sealed Cheryl’s lips with his own. Their bodies moved passionately against each other under the sheets.
At a certain point, deep into the night, Cheryl sobbed, “N–no more…”
“Good girl. This’ll be our last round,” coaxed Dylan gently.
“In that case… Fine.” Cheryl was easily convinced.
They only stopped when the sun began its ascent into the sky. Then, Dylan carried Cheryl into the washroom and quickly cleaned her up before falling asleep together.
On the other hand, Leon, Zane, and Steve arrived at the wedding hall after rushing over in their private jet. The hall was completely empty, and they knew they were
late. They immediately drove over to Dylan’s residence.

All three of them were barred from entering. Due to the stringent security measures of the neighborhood, they couldn’t force their entry either.
As a result, they coul
return to their car and lie in wait. Every second felt like it was stretching into eternity. Time seemed to be passing agonisingly slowly.
Even after the sun had fully risen, none of the house’s occupants had left the mansion, except for one of their kitchen helpers, Mark Horder, who’d gone shopping.
The three exchanged glances in agreement. Seizing the opportunity, the drove toward Mark’s car. As it rounded the comer, they cut in front of the car and stopped it. After heated negotiation, Mark brought them in, and they immediately headed in the direction of the main building.
The second Mark regained his freedom, he contacted security. An alarm began blaring through the mansion.
Cheryl’s sleep was rudely interrupted by the alarm. She kicked Dylan, who’d had his arms around her.
“What’s going on?”
“There’s a trespasser. I’ll go downstairs and take a look.”
After Dylan left, Cheryl found herself unable to fall back asleep. She also got out of bed and freshened up. Looking at the marks all over her in the mirror, Cheryl grumbled, “Is he some kind of dog?”
She picked out a long–sleeved turtleneck. As for the marks that even her clothes couldn’t cover, Cheryl just gave up trying.
Heading downstairs, she caught sight of the three intruders as soon as she reached the bottom of the stairs. They immediately noticed the uncovered marks around her neck.
Their hearts seized painfully, as though someone had suffocated them. They glared murderously at Dylan, who seemed to be smirking in satisfaction.
Dylan ignored their glares. He got up and hurried over to Cheryl’s side, helping her onto the couch. Cheryl shot a dirty look at him. He was the perpetrator who’d caused the pain in her hips, after all.
Booping her nose, he said, “You must be hungry.”
“Yeah.” Then, Cheryl nodded at him, indicating for him to explain what Leon, Zane, and Steve were doing in their living room.
“They coerced one of the helpers into letting them in. Security thought they were burglars and captured them accordingly.”
“Let them go. They’re like brothers to me.”
At Cheryl’s words, Dylan gave the signal to the guards to let the men go.
Upon hearing how Cheryl had introduced them, the three of them forgot about their awkward situation. Instead, they felt like their hearts had sunk further into
agony.
“Cheryl!” they cried out.
The second the three could move, they surged toward Cheryl. However, they were stopped from getting close to her.
Eyeing the guards blocking them, they had no choice but to stand in place, saying, “Cheryl, you can’t just get married to someone on a whim out of rebelliousness. Come back with us. I won’t mind that you did it with him… We can pretend like nothing happened if you come with us.”

Dylan was furious. He was about to argue when Cheryl raised a hand to stop him. She consoled him with a glance before turning back to the men.
“Leon, Zane, and Steve, don’t think so highly of yourselves. Would I marry someone just to make a point in our argument? Listen to yourselves. Doesn’t that sound ridiculous?
“Do you think it matters to me whether or not you guys mind? Who do you think you are? I must’ve been too nice in the past. That’s the only explanation for how delusional you are. Like you deserve any of that!”
Done with her rant, Cheryl headed off to dine with Dylan. Glee was written all over Dylan’s face at her ruthless response.
Dylan waved at the guards, who chased all three men out of the house. At least Cheryl’s appetite wouldn’t be affected by them.
As they were dragged away, they repeatedly cried out Cheryl’s name. Eventually, their voices faded entirely into the background.
