Chapter 20
Giselle followed Leon, Steve, and Zane back to their ward. She watched as they got back into bed. Then, she smiled and walked in.
“I bought you guys some dinner. Take a look and see whether it suits your tastes.”
The men didn’t budge despite Giselle’s energetic encouragement. Although she stiffened for a moment, she didn’t express her emotions outwardly. Despite no one giving a damn about her, she continued putting food out for them.
Then, she approached each of them one by one, convincing them to eat. As none of them had eaten throughout the day, they got out of bed to have dinner.
Like a maid, Giselle helped them with their meal. After finishing dinner, they watched Giselle fuss over them and collectively thought that all of this would’ve been much better if Cheryl were in her place instead.
After Giselle was done, they said, “We’ve been troubling you for the past few days. What would you like?”
“Anything’s fine.”
“We’ll satisfy your desires.”
Giselle understood what they were getting at. Since they were set on distancing themselves from her, they couldn’t blame her for being ruthless this time. Hatred bubbling within her, she put on a pitiful front and stared at the men with teary eyes.
“Is this what you think of me? Do you think I have been taking care of you because I had ulterior motives?”
Leon, Zane, and Steve stared at her silently. In the past, her tears would’ve been highly effective in getting her way with them. However, it now seemed utterly
useless.
Swiping at her tears, she pretended to say bravely, “Got it … I don’t want anything material. Could you guys go shopping with me tomorrow, one last time?”
As though she were devastated, Giselle looked down and clutched at her chest. After a while, she looked up at them and said, “Let’s treat it as a farewell. How about that?”
Leon was moved by her performance. In the end, he agreed, “Alright.”
Initially, Zane and Steve hesitated. At Leon’s agreement, their eyes met, and they nodded to give their permission.
The next day, the sun was shining, and it was a fine day to go shopping. Giselle showed up in a white dress and a hat. Her makeup was flawless, and every strand on her head was perfectly conditioned.
Leon, Steve, and Zane had merely donned their everyday clothes, Giselle was dissatisfied with their outfits. However, when she thought of what was to come, she didn’t see the need to pick a fight with them about it.
The four of them set out. Throughout the journey, only Giselle spoke. Occasionally, Leon provided a curt response, but Steve and Zane remained silent no matter how Giselle tried to cheer them up.
In the end, Giselle fell quiet as well. She recalled what it used to be like when they went out. The contrast between then and now made it so that she could hardly maintain her cheery expression. Occasionally, her features twisted into a grimace. However, since the three of them were lost in their thoughts, none of them
noticed.
After arriving at their destination, Giselle brought them purposefully to a junction. When she got there, she looked around until she saw a familiar car plate number. Only then did she lead them forward.
“Leon, Zane, Steve, there’s a restaurant ahead which is rumored to really good. Let me treat you guys to a last meal together, as a symbol of my thanks for how you guys have cared for me over the past few years.”

As Giselle walked in front of them, they didn’t pay attention to the traffic lights.

selle looked back to check whether the three of them were keeping up. Suddenly, her eyes widened and she screamed, “Be careful!”
Giselle pushed the three of them out of the way. With a bang, the car rammed into her and she flew backward as a result of the impact.
Initially, the three men were angry at being pushed over by Giselle. However, when they looked up, they saw Giselle lying in a pool of blood.
They screamed. Leon came to his the fastest and immediately called emergency services while Steve and Zane helped her up carefully.
“Gigi, how are you feeling now “enses
“Gigi, you…”
Giselle internally cursed at the unreliable driver. However, when she heard them address her as “Gigi“, she knew that her goal had been achieved.
She positioned herself as prettily as e could, given the circumstances, and stuttered breathily, “As long as… you guys are fine… that’s all that matters…”
Then, as though she could no longer stand the pain, she lost consciousness.
