Chapter 20
“Quinn Miller! Mr. Miller? Sebastian asked in confirmation
Sebastian could practically feel the hostility radaring from the other end of the line. Ignoring it, he introduced himself and got straight to the point, requesting a face–to–face meeting.
“Sure. Half an hour from now. Let’s just meet at the same cafe where Lia and I met last time,” Quinn said.
After hanging up, Quinn stared at the phone screen like he could see Sebastian through it.
Back then, Julia suddenly got married and cut ties with everyone. She hadn’t returned home in seven years.
After all that time, Julia, who had once risked everything for that marriage, was so done that she’d rather walk away with nothing than stay another day.
Quinn was very curious to see what kind of man Sebastian was
Half an hour later,
Quinn showed up more than ten minutes late, Sebastian was already seated, his expression sour.
This was probably the first time he’d waited for someone, and it clearly didn’t sit well with him.
“You’re Sebastian Bolt? Quinn asked
Dressed in a sharp suit, Quinn looked every bit the efficient, no–nonsense attorney-
Sebastian, with his polished presence and natural air of command, had the undeniable presence of a CEO,
The moment their eyes met, both men instantly disliked each other.
Quinn glanced at the table where he and Julia had sat before.
“You probably don’t know this, but that table over there, that’s the one Lia and I always reserve. She likes the coffee here. I’ll grab her a cup to go when leave,”
He said “Lial so casually, so familiarly, that Sebastian’s eyelids twitched
Just a lawyer, huh? How long had they even known each other?
“Mr. Miller, I’ll get straight to the point,” Sebastian said.
He’d done his homework. In just 30 minutes, he’d learned Quinn had a flawless track record, and almost every case he touched ended in a win.
“I want you to drop Julia’s divorce case.”
Sebastian tapped his fingers lightly on the table. Playing it soft wasn’t his usual style, but he wasn’t stupid–he knew Quinn wasn’t someone to
underestimate
Quinn didn’t reply right away. He simply stared at Sebastian, his charming eyes glinting with amusement
Sebastian continued, “Name your price. Whatever Julia’s offering, I’ll pay you at least twice as much.”
Quinn let out a sharp, amused laugh. “Classic Mr. Holt, always so generous with the wallet, but..”
He paused, his smirk deepening “You seem to have misunderstood something. My relationship with Lia isn’t something you can put a price tag on.”
His words were loaded with meaning. “So, Mr. Holt, I’m afraid your money isn’t something I’ll be earning.”
Sebastian’s gaze turned ice–cold. If looks could kill, Quinn would’ve been dead a dozen times over.
However, Sebastian had clearly misread Quinn’s implication. His voice dropped, cold and threatening. “Mr. Miller, have you considered the serious consequences of getting involved with a married woman?”
Quinn chuckled, like he’d just heard a ridiculous joke.
Married? So Sebastian did remember he was married, huh?
Sebastian kept pressing “As a well–known lawyer, I’d imagine you still care about your reputation. Playing the role of the other man doesn’t exactly look good on you.”
“1
“Being the other man is pretty disgraceful, huh?” Quinn’s smile vanished, replaced by icy sarcasm. “But tell me, Mr. Holt, do you think cheating makes someone look good?”
Sebastian’s frown deepened. He knew exactly what Quinn was referring to
“Maybe you should worry about your mess first, Mr. Holt,” Quinn added coolly, rising from the table.
This divorce was as good as done.
Once inside his car, parked at the curb, Quinn hesitated for a moment. Then he decided to give Julia a quick heads–up.
After all, he’d just shown zero mercy to Sebastian’s pride.
Back in the café, Sebastian was still trying to figure out what exactly was going on between Julia and Quinn.
Then his phone rang–it was Penelope
“Mr. Holt, Xav he’s gone! I just stepped away for a minute to cut up some fruit, and when I came back, he was gone…”
