Chapter 47
Diana stumbled, nearly losing her balance, but the young man caught her just in time.
Her gaze dropped to the hand gripping her arm. Under the sleeve revealed a sculpted wrist and long, graceful fingers that radiated an understated grace.
For a moment, Diana’s mind went blank. Then her eyes lifted, and recognition dawned. It was the man who had lent her his umbrella that day- Charlie.
While she had met him once before, her heart still skipped a beat at the sight of him. How could someone look so effortlessly flawless? There was not a single feature of him that felt out of place.
Charlie’s features were sharp yet defined. A faint smile tugged his lips, though it didn’t quite reach his eyes. The corners of his eyes sloped gently, framed by lashes so thick they cast feathery shadows when he looked down.
There was a quiet elegance about him, like mist drifting over mountain peaks or the cool clarity of crystal.
“Ms, Gyleon, do you remember me?” Charlie asked with a soft smile.
The moment overlapped with the memory in Diana’s mind, and their last encounter came rushing back.
“Ms. Gyleon, you do think like a businesswoman,” Charlie had stated back then.
“Keep the umbrella, I won’t take any money for it.
“It gets dark early in winter. You should head home soon.
“If fate allows us to meet again, may I ask for a small favor?”
He had wanted her contact information.
“Do you remember me now?” Charlie’s gaze locked onto Diana’s, and the corners of his lips curled into a faint smile. There was a sparkle of amusement in his gaze.
“I–I’m sorry for bumping into you,” she stammered, taking a small step back.
She silently reminded herself not to let her thoughts drift when walking. While she had collided with someone this time, it might be a lamppost next time. That would be a tragic end for her flawless complexion.
“It’s alright,” Charlie replied, his voice smooth and clear. For some inexplicable reason, it made Diana’s heart skip a beat.
She wondered what was wrong with her for acting like a complete fool. She pinched herself through her sleeve, hard, hoping the sting would jolt her back to her senses.
“Ms. Gyleon…” He paused for a moment before asking, “Would it be alright if we exchanged contacts now?”
Diana blinked, momentarily speechless.
“I heard you’ve invested in Citrus Bless,” he added with a faint smile. “There’s a chance we might work together down the line.”
His words jogged her memory. After leaving Scott Corporation and taking his mother’s last name, Charlie built a company of his own from the ground up. In just two years, he had made a name for himself in Heyton.
Now that Diana was determined to forge her path, adopting a business mindset was only natural. Guided by the principle that making allies was better than enemies, Diana pulled out her phone.
“Sure,” she replied.
After exchanging contact information, Charlie grinned. “Where are you headed, Ms. Gyleon? I can give you a ride”
Though spring was near, the bitter wind still cut to the bone.
Diana had never been one to cling to false pride. If something worked to her advantage, she saw no reason to say no.
