Chapter 62
On the other hand, Diana did receive a call from the Hendrix residence.
“Grandpa, I stayed overnight at the company because I’ve been too busy lately.” She wanted to explain further, but unexpectedly, a sigh came from the other end.
“Diana, I may be old, but I’m not blind. If you can’t bring yourself to forgive that bastard, then let me apologize on his behalf, alright?” Jason said apologetically.
But before he could finish, the sound of violent coughing interrupted him. Diana could hear him coughing up blood on the other end.
“Grandpa, I’ll come back home tonight.” Diana couldn’t bear to see Jason in this difficult situation, so she could only give in.
Diana’s biggest weakness was her soft heart, especially toward those who truly cared for her and those she truly cared for. Unfortunately, Jason was in both categories of people. After finishing her work, Diana sighed and got into her car to head home.
She really wished the drive from Citrus Bless to Hendrix Villa could be longer so that she wouldn’t have to return so quickly.
She hadn’t decided how to face Vincent after all this. If they lived under the same roof again, they would inevitably see each other’s faces every day.
To make matters worse, Maria had called to inform her that Jason was planning to stay in the villa for a few days. Jason said that living alone at the Hendrix residence was too lonely, and he missed his grandchildren.
The Hendrix family was wealthy, after all, so there were many empty rooms in the large villa. Technically, there wouldn’t be any trouble with Jason living with them.
But Diana knew exactly what was happening–this wasn’t just about a grandfather missing his grandson and granddaughter–in–law. It was obvious that he was here to check whether Vincent and Diana were really living happily together.
Diana couldn’t do anything as she watched the car slowly enter the villa, feeling uncomfortable. The car slowly stopped while a servant came to open the door for her.
Diana sat quietly in the car, still wrestling with her mixed emotions. After a few seconds of silence, she finally got out of the car and walked into the living room. Jason and Vincent were already there.
“Grandpa.” Diana came up to them and greeted Jason.
Vincent was sitting on the couch with a serious expression, clearly unwilling to be here.
After all, they had completely fallen out and exposed everything between them.
But because of Jason’s intervention, Gabriella had probably been escorted out of the villa by now.
“Diana’s back!” Jason’s face lit up when he saw Diana, and he smiled kindly. “I heard that you’re stepping into the entertainment industry?”
As he talked, his gaze casually scanned across her fingers. He was relieved to see that the wedding wing was still there.
Jason sighed, thinking it wasn’t easy for a person his age to still try his best to act as the guardian angel watching over his grandson’s love life.
Since Diana was still wearing her wedding ring, regardless of whether it was a deliberate choice not to let him worry, there might be a slight chance for Vincent to win back her heart.
His doctor had told him that he didn’t have much time left–he didn’t even know if he could stay alive for another full year.
So, at least before he passed away, Jason just wanted to see them get back together and love each other as they did before, without any resentment or rift.
Jason had tried to get rid of Gabriella recently, but Vincent protected her too well for him to have the chance.
He was already so old, and his body gradually became worse as the days went on. He didn’t have the energy to be in control, and Vincent was starting to take control of most of the power in Hendrix Corporation.
For the time being, Gabriella was impossible to get rid of like gum stuck to the bottom of a shoe.
