Chapter 79
“Hello, everyone!” Sherry Young greeted the camera with a flawless smile. “Today, we’re not just going to have a chat. I’ve also got some great products I want to recommend to you all…” She had gone over the livestream script countless times beforehand and had rehearsed the entire process multiple times, so the opening went smoothly.
Several of Citrus Bless‘ senior executives sat tensely just out of frame, watching with bated breath.
This was the company’s very first attempt at livestream sales. Over the past few days, Diana had pushed the production line into overdrive and even doubled the warehouse staffing, all in preparation for this day.
The Cornelius family’s business empire covered a broad range of products, from food to everyday household items. They didn’t have many cosmetic brands under their umbrella, but the ones they did have were all reliable in quality.
However, in recent years, their focus had shifted entirely to media and entertainment, so little effort had gone into packaging or marketing their own products.
As a result, many of their products–despite being long–established domestic brands–had been left unnoticed, overshadowed by flashy internet–famous alternatives.
“These aren’t influencer–endorsed products. Will this kind of livestream sales model even work?” Evelyne asked, sitting across from Diana inside the soundproof room.
“This is ridiculous! You two young ladies are completely out of your minds!” Zachary Lloyd, the head of purchasing and operations, stormed in angrily.
Zachary was a long–time veteran of Cornelius Corporation. He had been around even longer than Evelyne herself, the Cornelius family’s heiress t
He was also the first executive to openly oppose Diana’s idea of livestreaming as a sales strategy.
“I heard you ramped up production on the assembly lines. Do you even realize some of the snacks have a short shelf life? If we can’t sell them all tonight during the livestream and they end up stuck in inventory, do you know how much money the company will lose?”
He was referring to those milk bread products.
These breads were made using a special technique to preserve their taste and freshness, resulting in shelf lives of no more than two months.
There were many types available. Just the fruit–filled ones had four varieties. Others included condensed milk toast, cheese sandwiches, quinoa breakfast buns, and ready–to–eat burgers. Cornelius Corporation prided itself on being a conscientious enterprise, with extremely strict food safety and hygiene standards. Even their raw materials used were of the best quality available.
If these goods didn’t sell and were stuck in inventory, the loss would indeed be substantial.
“Mrs. Hendrix, I understand that you want to get into business, but have you ever done business before?”
Zachary clearly disapproved of the plan.
Evelyne’s face iramediately darkened. She stood up and said sternly, “Mr. Lloyd, please watch your tone. Diana is now Citrus Bless‘ director and also a shareholder. She’s not just Mrs. Hendrix here.”
Evelyne had originaliy wanted to give Diana an even higher position, given her new shareholder status. However, Diana had declined her offer.
For Diana, buying shares was about making money.
As the only daughter of the Gyleon family, she knew her family business had been operating at a loss for years. If she and Vincent divorced for good one day, the Gyleon family wouldn’t be much help.
She’d probably have to turn around and support them instead.
So titles didn’t matter to her. What mattered was time and flexibility. A higher position and title would only bog her down with responsibilities, which meant she wouldn’t even have time for acting anymore.
Sherry’s manager followed Zachary in. Her tone was
“Ms. Gyleon, Sherry is one of my artists. She’s again.
much more polite, but the disapproval on her face was just as clear,
really hit it big, but recently she’s finally gained a little attention by doing livestream chats with fans. Her popularity is starting to rise
“Now you’re casually assigning her to do lowbrow duct–5
Although her tone was polite, it was clear the manager was suppressing her frustration, Sherry was an actress, not a salesperson. Why make her sell products in a livestream?
-selling livestreams? Isn’t that a little degrading?”
If Diana wanted to get into this business, couldn’t she just sign some ready–made internet influencers?
In her eyes, this was nothing but a game for Evelyne.
Sure, she knew Evelyne had a close relationship with Diana, but that didn’t mean she should be allowed to act so recklessly and treat the family business like it was her playground!
