Chapter 3
Such a big thing, but it sounded so casual coming out of his mouth.
I was packing the last piece of clothing into my suitcase when Sabrina pushed the door open.
She saw the box at my feet, with a somewhat knowing expression on her face.
“You didn’t come back earlier, so I let Selena sleep in your room. Now the study has been converted into a nursery. Tonight you will sleep in the living room. If you’re not happy about it, then go stay in a hotel.”
I was really tired and didn’t have the energy to go out and look for a hotel, so I nodded and prepared to spend the night on the sofa.
Late into the night, the sound of a baby crying could be heard coming from the bedroom.
I turned over and was about to put on my earphones when I heard Selena’s complaining voice.
“Freddy, you take care of the baby, he has been crying.”
Soon after came Freddy’s light laughter.
“Weren’t you just my little sweetheart? just behave yourself, let the children cry a little more to exercise their lung capacity.”
I covered my head with the blanket, trying hard to ignore their laughter.
With a blink of an eye, it seems as if the image of Freddy confessing to me for the first time appears in front of me.
Back then, he was youthful and sunny, with me in his heart and eyes.
But that version of him no longer belonged to me.
I slept through the night in a daze like that, and the next day at dawn I left with my suitcase.
I cancelled my household registration at the management office and also completed the necessary procedures for going abroad.

Because there were approved documents, all procedures were processed quickly, and the staff didn’t ask much.
Until I was about to leave, the staff suddenly called me and handed me a piece of fruit candy.

I gave her a grateful smile and then found a hotel nearby after coming out.
After putting down my luggage, I was ready to go out and find something to eat, but unexpectedly I ran into Freddy and Selena with their family of four.
Selena wore a Patek Philippe bracelet on her wrist, looking proud, not at all like someone on the verge of death.
“Elianna, I just saw someone from a distance who looked just like you, and Freddy kept insisting that it couldn’t possibly be you over here~”
Her gaze fell on the job advertisement in my hand, and she smiled knowingly.
“So you came out to look for a job, huh? But why did you have such a bad idea to become a waiter?”
“You didn’t have to hurt yourself so much even if you were angry with Freddy…”
I didn’t say anything. The job recruitment notice was handed to me by a little girl on the roadside just now.
I saw her handing out flyers on the street in the middle of winter, so I casually took one.
Seeing that I didn’t say anything, I just clenched the single page in my hand. A hint of satisfaction flashed in Selena’s eyes, and the corners of her mouth curled up crazily.
“You said you were looking for a job earlier, maybe I can help with something?”
“We are all family, as long as you are doing well, Freddy can rely on his later life and children, then I can rest assured.”
And my silence at the moment was simply a tacit agreement.
Freddy, who had originally looked puzzled, had a complete change of expression on his face.
He frowned tightly, his lips forming a straight line, and looked at me with a disdainful expression in his eyes.
What is there to recommend? She insisted on quitting such a good job as a doctor herself, now even if she starves to death on the street, it’s not worth anyone’s sympathy.”
“Elianna, I can’t believe you would go to such lengths to force me to give up the child. You really disappoint me!”
I looked at his familiar face, but at that moment I only felt extremely strange.
I remember when I had just gotten married, I experienced position changes due to intense competition within the hospital, and at one point, I even considered resigning and changing careers.
After listening, Freddy just held me in his arms and gently comforted me by patting my back, saying, “We are a couple, no matter what decision you make, I support you.”
“Resigning is not a big deal, my dear. I will always be with you.”
But now, he let other women humiliate me.
He forgot the words he once said to me, and it seems he also forgot the unforgettable feelings he once had for me.
Even Bruno and Sabrina, who were following along, shook their heads disdainfully.
“Elianna, you were just like a hen that couldn’t lay eggs, always out and about, what do you have to compete with Selena?”
“It’s only natural for someone like you, Freddy, to find someone else. If you want to blame anyone, blame yourself for not being attractive enough!” The two of them became more and more exaggerated as they spoke, and soon passersby were casting curious glances in our direction.
My hands hung at my sides, clenched into tight fists, with my fingernails deeply embedded in the flesh.

“We were getting ready to take a family photo, Elianna, why don’t you join us? I’ll be counting on you to take care of Freddy and the kids for the rest of our lives.”
I glanced at her and said nothing.
Freddy immediately became unhappy on the side, holding Selena in his arms, and sneering at me disdainfully.
“Selena, I know you have a kind heart, but not everyone may appreciate it.”
“Elianna, who are you giving that attitude to? Whether you go or not, with your appearance, being in the picture will only lower the standard of our whole family.”
After saying that, he grabbed Selena’s hand and turned towards the photo studio.
“We’ll be on our way then, Elianna. Don’t let us delay you from continuing your job search~”
Before leaving, Selena gave me a meaningful look.
Watching their backs as they left, there was not a ripple in my heart.
In the eyes of outsiders, “this was such a harmonious family.”
if this is what Freddy wants, then why not let go and fulfill it?
